Nice quality best sound for metal
Awesome pickup
Installed in my Gibson sg sounds killer
Baritone Excellence
Dropped this into 27" Bari in Drop G# and this sounds phenomenal. Weird compression and highs / buzz gone from the Duncan Custom V, smooth and even across the spectrum. Takes a boost excellent to add juice for metal. This delivers in spades over the lower register, palm mutes are crushing without that high end "scrape" when using a boost / OD, "thwack" sound. If your looking for… read more a metal tone without the active characteristics, here you go. Installed with Mad Hatter Solderless electronics, 100% satisfied.
Love it
I play a metal, ranging from 80s hair metal to Pantera and everything in between. I usually use Emg 81,85 combos. Or dimebuckers and '59s. But I may be switching over to the Nagul 100%. I put this in the bridge of my les paul and good lord... This thing has some serious crunch. It sounds huge. I honestly have never heard a pickup this huge sounding and I've been playing for over… read more 20 years. Highly recommended. My signal chain was: lespaul- 808tubescreamer-ISPdecimator-MesaMarkV-mesa2x12. Get it!!
Update Review, Nazgul Trembucker
I wrote one of the reviews on this pickup, installed it in a cheap Ibanez RG270. Took it out & replaced the 500T bridge pickup in my '02 Gibson Gothic Explorer. Holy god this Nazgul just crushes. Heavier than the Earth. I can't believe it. My Mesa Multi Watt Dual Rectifier & Marshall DSL100H came alive. I was having fizz issues with my Explorer, was drivin' me nuts. I was… read more seriously considering finally giving in and installing a set of Blackouts, active pickups. Not now... This pickup is warmer than the 500T, not harsh or trebley like the Gibson "high gain" 500T. Wow. Kinda mad at Gibson, I was going to spend a ton of $$$$$ to "fix" my fizz & harshness issues, new OD/Boost/Dist. pedals, speakers, different amp brand, etc. Not now, LOL, not now. When I had it in the $150 Ibanez it was good, honestly think now that the cheap switch, pots, jack & wire were holding it back because now, in my Explorer, IT IS JUST TOTALLY AWESOME!!!! Mad at myself too for not putting it in the Explorer in the first place. What the heck was I thinking? Just way more of the good, waaaaaay less of the bad. If you love passive pickups, play heavy drop tuned 6 string metal & just ain't quite getting that crunch, massiveness you are looking for, GET THIS PICKUP IMMEDIATELY!!!! Don't put it in a cheap junker like I did. Me's are stupid. Put it in your #1. Massive. Brutal. Probably hurt people, we just don't know yet, reports aren't in. Well, time to getting back to making the neighbors think a necromancer moved onto the block. By it, now.
