Nazgul/Sentient set in a mahogany baritone Kiesel
Got these pickups because I was not happy with the stockers that came with a guitar I just got. After talking with my sales guy, Kyle Austin, we decided on these bad boys. They are absolutely perfect. They really are the most clear and articulate passive pickup you can get at the moment.
Awesome pups
These things sound great. Super clear, very versatile. I play everything from prog to death to post rock, thy just sound clear and perfect. Sound great cool split as well.
Satan built these in the seventh layer of Hell
The Nazgul/Sentient pickups are hot, heavy and full of anger. I got these as an upgrade for a stock Jackson 7 string and there is just no comparison. Seymour Duncan made a badass pickup set and if you play anything heavy these are for you.
If you are into Metal and Djent these are for you
This is the 4th pare I have purchased. I play in in a Progressive Deathcore band the sound we have is a mix of Deathcore and Djent. So it ranges from Heavy Breakdown to lighter clean parts. This pickup comb cannot be matched. It is able to provide the heavy chug of the low end and the clean crisp of the high.I will say the mid is not as present as some would expect from a metal… read more driven pickup, but that works perfect for what I play. We also have parts that are clean, and these pickups deliver on the clean. They pick up on the natural reverb that my guitar produces. I absolutely love that about these pickups. They have that perfect sweet spot for clean that is not dry nor too wet. I recommend these pickups for anyone who is looking to capture a good low end that has chug, and also wants highs that cut through in a not overpowering way.
Great sound
I bought these for my son as a gift. He plays a lot of detuned metal. He has an Ibanez RGIXL7 that he bought 6 months ago. He loved having a lower string but wasn’t pleased with the stock Fusion Edge pickups. He loves the active EMG pickups in his six string, and I expected him to opt for some actives for his 7 string. But after he spent weeks checking out videos and reading… read more reviews, he chose the Nazgul/Sentient set. I dropped these in for him right after Christmas and he loves them. I am more of a strat guy and I figured I wouldn’t notice much of a difference between the stock pups and these. I was wrong. These sound much better. High gain playing is so much more articulate and what sounded mushy on the Fusion Edge pups comes across more defined. The low B string was muddy sounding before and I tended to use it as more of a pedal or drone string when I played it. Now it is much more usable and balanced. Even clean these pups are great, very crisp and harmonically rich. In my sons hands they are death metal monsters and truly deliver a lot of gain and brutal chug. He has played the guitar nonstop since we changed them out. He is a mainly a metal guitarist, but he has an eclectic streak. I also hear him playing King Crimson and old school Genesis on these. High gain isn’t for everyone but these pups seem to be very versatile, and offer more than just brutal power. Btw, like another review stated, I had to make some alterations to for these to fit the Ibanez. I chose to mount the pickup rings on his guitar and use them to support the pickups rather than screwing them directly into the body. I had to cut a portion of the top of the neck pickup ring so that it fit around the fretboard. After all was done it looks nice and almost professional:) No complaints about a little trouble mounting them. It was well worth it.
