The Strings For Me

Alexander K

Had been using the other D'Addario strings for years (Phosphor Bronze EJ16) which I loved but these were advertised as being a bit brighter and I figured why not try them out. For the first week I couldn't stand it, just too bright, but after that first handful of days the strings mellowed just slightly and they sound exceptional. And it's not just a better sound but they also have read more more longevity in that sweet sounding time period compared to phosphor bronze strings. I also think these feel smoother than the phosphor bronze strings so that's a plus even though I didn't specifically find the other strings poor to play on. The phosphor bronze strings are great but these are fantastic.

Best strings that I have ever used but..

I don't know about on strictly an acoustic guitar. I do have 5 acoustic guitars but I've never used them on one. In my mind, these strings are perfect for my T5's and my Gibson ES335 and Epiphone ES339. These strings stay in tune with perfect intonation, rarely ever break and last a very long time(in fact I've never had one go flat). And that is great for me cause with as many read more guitars that I have, I don't want to have to be changing strings a lot. I don't use them on my Strat either but I don't play the Strat hardly at all because I mainly do single gigs so I need the depth that the T5's give me. I've used many sets of these strings over the years and just ordered a couple of very light gauge to see how well they hold up. I've always gone for the 12-53's for added punch and bass lines, and durability, but these strings are harder on my fingers and not as easy to play leads at times although easier by far than normal acoustic strings.

Just what I needed.

I've been searching for the best string for my J-45. It's all personal preference and I found that these sound the best On my Gibson. Hopefully they hold up because they sound fantastic.

Highly Recommend – Amazing Tone!

I cannot recommend the D'Addario Nickel Bronze Strings enough! While 'chasing' the acoustic tone I was looking for on my Martin D-18, I've tried countless strings of several companies along with differing string gauge and alloys. After swapping back and forth from Phosphor Bronze and 80/20 Bronze strings, I stumbled upon the Nickel Bronze Acoustic Strings. I absolutely loved the read more tone I got from the strings which can be described as a more uncolored/organic tone while maintaining natural overtones and great projection. After originally using these strings for awhile I decided to swap back to 80/20 and Phosphor Bronze sets. The 80/20 Bronze set is good if you're looking for a really bright and articulate sound while maintaining a bell-like projection with scooped mids. The Phosphor Bronze set offers a full, warm and complex tone. The 80/20 Bronze strings really cut through the mix but tend to mellow out rather quickly, while the Phosphor Bronze strings offer a full acoustic sound and sits well in the mix. I recently switched back to the Nickel Bronze set and couldn't be happier! Comparing the Nickel Bronze to the Phosphor and 80/20 sets, the Nickel Bronze set offers the exact tone that I search for in an acoustic guitar. The Nickel Bronze set has more articulate highs and mids while maintaining a tight and responsive low-end. While the 80/20 and Phosphor sets offer a sound you may be searching for, I find they add 'color' to the guitar while the Nickel Bronze offers a clear and focused tone I haven't experienced with other sets. D-18 has better never sounded better! (D'Addario NB1253 Nickel Bronze Acoustic Strings .012-.053 Light)
