NBE-10 Hi-Def Neon Blue K3 Coated Electric Guitar Strings - .010-.046 Medium Review

Not really impressed

I'm not a big reviewer but none of the reviews I've seen for these really covered my experience, so if you're in my shoes and thinking about these strings maybe this will help: I like blue. I like blacklights. I have a blue guitar. I thought blue strings that glow under blacklight would look cool. A lot of online reviews for these note that the strings sound pretty dead/dull right… read more out of the pack, but I wasn't sure how much this complaint was particular to these strings vs. from people who dislike all coated strings. Since I do normally play coated strings I gave these a shot and yeah... unamplified they do sound dull. Amplified they were fine at first but did seem get dull pretty quickly. As for the effect... well, they only glow so much under blacklight. Anything else that's UV fluorescent will overwhelm them easily, but I guess strings are only so thick. Unfortunately, the coating chips off pretty easily, and a small scrape seems to quickly spread into way more coating flaking off. As others note it also has an odd feel, some have called it sticky; I wouldn't say sticky but it does feel plasticky, it feels kind of like teflon coating, but not as obviously slick. Coming into this with an open mind and pretty low expectations I still felt disappointed in these strings and was happy to swap them back out after just a few weeks.

These are fun! And they ROCK!

These actually sound and feel great! Very snappy and poppy, as well as smooth feeling on the fingers. A lot of blue going on with my PRS!!! Give them a shot!
