Don't let the novelty fool you
I decided to check these out despite the reviews and I'm glad I did because the negative reviews are not accurate. These are better than decent strings and have lasted way longer than what other people have said regarding "flaking" of the coating,if anything the coating increases the life span of the strings. I didn't see real wear and tear til 5 or 6 months which is longer I would… read more normally have strings on. They are cool as hell with a blacklight and sound great
Only for looks
I have to preface this by saying I've never used coated strings before. That said; these are just not good. They do sound pretty dull unplugged. Not bad through an amp, but they do lack sustain and notes die quicker than they should. Also, the color coating came off 2 of the strings in 2 days. Combination of fingers and pick. 8 hrs tops. They really do look amazing, but that's about… read more it. And unfortunately not for very long. Good for a gig and that's it. Better strings for better prices. Regular DRs included.
Great Strings
Dont listen to the other review on here. These strings do no suck. "Sounds like the string is muted but with more sustain"?? That makes sense.. lol These strings sound great if you know how to restring your guitar and set it up properly to your specs/liking. The coating lasts long and doesnt affect the tone. It's not the string's fault if they go out of tune, that's your guitars… read more problem which goes back to user error. I've tried many different string brands and none of them have ever just broke or gone out of tune on me. The only thing that turns me off certain strings are the available gauges. This set is just a standard ten set which works great. looks cool and sounds just as cool. You'll enjoy these strings. Just buy them. If you end up not liking them, then hey, that's the beauty of Sweetwater; there's plenty of other stuff to try!
DEAD
These strings are some of the coolest color guitar strings out there but when it comes to tone quality and how long they stay in tune is otherwise lacking extremely. The strings when plucked by fingers or a pick sound like they are being muted but with more sustain these strings are not worth the money they are being sold for these strings are bad tuning is another issue they tend… read more to drop and slip out of tune at random points even though they are cool on stage and under black light it is not cool when you are on stage and the strings drop out of tune in the middle of a song I wouldn't give these strings to my worst enemy. THEY SUCK.
