Married to my Wavestate
Out of this world into ethereally awesome reverbs and sequencing that w filter, I am able to get unmistakable formant tones, and has quickly become married to Wavestate. I have an earthquaker device Transmisser modulated reverb after Nightsky, which glues it all together when I want. Night sky was my Christmas present to myself and Krampus made me very happy.
Strymon NightSky
I first came across the NightSky in a video review of it by Rhett Shull, one of the two music guys I follow out of Atlanta (the other being Rick Beato). What got my attention was that the first thing Rhett plays in the video isn't a guitar- it's his Moog Subsequent 32, which I also own. While he was on the fence on the pedal in the video, it was absolutely clear to me that it was… read more a great add to keyboards, and following the purchase and set up of my Native Instruments S-88/Komplete Control, I got the NightSky, which to be honest, is a tad steep in price. That said, it's worth every penny. Just to give readers a quick sense of it: when playing the Freya choir on the NI S-88, on the second preset out of the box, it adds a beautiful bass resonance that sounds like a supporting men's choir without even loading up the Wotan plug in. I've hardly tapped it's potential, in fact, I've only played around with it a bit and sampled the easy presets. I plan on setting it up on a patch panel so I can cross the Korgs, Ultra-Nova, and Moog into it as well as my bass guitar. While I can see why it might be a pass for guitar players, this is definitely an excellent add to keyboards for classical, progressive, and ambient music.
Spooky noises
This thing makes some sweet ambient vibes. I love that it is a little on the darker, mysterious, ghostly, otherworldly side, not to say you cant get normal neutral reverb sounds out of it. It's a little complicated to patch if you are not using the presets. Definitely read the manual.
Space Academy
I've only had it a couple hours and half my mind is melted.
Incredible for keyboards and drums!
I'm mainly a drummer but dabble with synthesizers with effects pedals often. I've used all the popular Strymon pedals and love them. I was skeptical about how I might use the new NightSky but after giving it a try it has opened up a new world of ideas. I've still only scratched the surface of what this pedal can do and I look forward to discovering more of its hidden magic. I ran… read more it through my drum track as well and it's crazy good! Build is quality Strymon as usual. All the best!
