Very reliable and easy to use capo
I currently own two G7th Performance 2 Silver Capos and this Planet Waves capo competes quite well with the more expensive capos. The thumb screw adjustment is very easy to accomplish and in a way I prefer it to the G7th Performance 2 Silver Capos because I can get a better grip on the strings ... being careful not to overtighten. A few times with the G7th Performance 2 Silver Capos… read more I did not have them tight enough and got string buzz. Also the G7th Performance 2 Silver Capos were a bit tricky to remove in comparison to the Planet Waves. I also prefer the Planet Waves flat surface to the G7th Performance 2 Silver Capos wavy edged back surface as those marred the finish on my nitro-finish Gibsons. The Planet Waves capo is really well made and durable. I suspect that the reviews on the thumbwheel coming off was due to over tightening by the user. I use a conservative grip tightening only to remove buzz .... which I have yet to encounter in all my initial adjustments.
Great design
This is a superior design to the Kyser style. It takes an extra moment to adjust it on, but it works very well. I have tried it on both acoustic and electric 6 strings, sounds great for either.
Great but needed Loctite
Works perfectly on my flat fret board electric and acoustic, however it got stuck on my guitar after several uses. I tightened it down to play, and when I tried to unscrew it, instead of the head twisting the screw out of the device, it came loose and twisted off the screw itself leaving me unable to remove the capo. After forcefully sliding the capo off my guitar, I was able to… read more remove the screw from the capo with my fingers. THen I fixed the capo by putting a drop of blue Loctite inside the screw head, finger twisting the screw into the head, and letting it dry overnight. Now the screw head remains on the screw and it works perfectly. I plan to buy one capo to keep in each guitar case, and preventively apply Loctite to each of them if I can twist the head off the screw.
A capo that truly works and is hassle free
Buy it.....it's so much better than anything else.
Great Capo !!
This is an excellent capo ! Small, lightweight, easy on & off and the thumbscrew lets you adjust just the right tension. I've used Kyser quick-change capo's for years, while they're easy to manuever, they apply way too much pressure on the strings, always throwing your guitar out or tune. This Planet Waves capo is now my 'go-to' capo ! Bye-Bye Kyser....hello Planet Waves !!
