Without a doubt, these are the best strings you can put on your favorite 8 string axe. NYXL has now been regarded for awhile to be have an outstanding pickup response and clarity, and these qualities really shine through on an extended range axe. On top of that this particular set is the most balanced set from a tension perspective that you can buy. I've tried multiple sets, and… read more many do just insane things like put a 54 in as your 6th string E. On a 28" scale 8 string that's just nuts. I've never understood why a string maker would do that but the genius's at D'Addario who actually know what they're doing realized this and created this set which feels natural and sounds amazing. If you are dropping the bottom string lower than E1 you might need to go custom, but I personally play in EAEADGBE and these hold up GREAT. They are also fabulous in standard tuning with a really snug low end. They are just the best. Couldn't recommend them more.

This is the best 8 string set I have ever played on. The tension is perfect and balanced. They last forever too. A bit pricy for a pack of strings but well worth the money.
