I was seriously thinking about getting rid of my 335 until I tried these strings. It never stayed in tune, and don't get me started on issues with the G string. I never would have believed a set of strings could make such a difference. Great Feel, Great tone, They stay in tune. It has only been 2 days, but I have no reason not to expect continued excellence..
Good Strings
I changed from 9-46 gauge to 11-52s on my Les Paul Jr as I wanted to hear the tone of heavier gauge strings with its shorter 24.75 scale. I was pleasantly surprised with how slinky these feel and how quickly they tune up. The tone is bright, clear and well balanced. I've typically used Pyramid Maximum Performance pure nickels in the past and used low capacitance cables as to get… read more a brighter and more detailed tone. I don't need the lower capacitance cable with the NYXL strings. Compared to the Pyramids, the first thing that jumped out was the tonal change in the low end - the NYXLs are clearer, tighter and have more detail and output. Same could be said for the mid-tones to some degree. I liked how long the Pyramids lasted and I typically play an hour everyday and changed strings every 2-3 month. These are suppose to last a long time and I'm interested to hear how they sound after two months of usage.
A Step Above
Been a loyal D'Addario user for nearly 15 years now, and tried these on a whim. As good as my normal strings (EXL116) are, these are noticeably better. Notes ring out more clearly, and they feel better too. I'll be using these going forward. Thanks, D'Addario!
Overall great!
Ive been playing guitar for three years and have stayed true to D'Addario strings. This was my first time trying the NYXL set for my 6 string ESP, and the high E and B strings were badly bent when i opened the package. Luckily, I bought two sets and this was the first time D'Addario dissapointed me. But, the other set was just great. great feel and tone that nothing else can provide!
