I purchased this to replace an Applause that was in warranty repair(received a credit on exchange). My sales engineer Joel Helton was very helpful with the process)Now about the guitar. First I received it in great shape, all I needed to do was tune it but I expected that with shipping in cooler temperatures Once acclimated to warmer temps and in tune, the guitar sounded great(have… read more not had a chance to plug it in, but don't expect any surprises). 2. The finish is much nicer than the photos on-line. the center black is not that dark. 3. The action and intonation are spot on. The preamp is easy to operate(from past experience with Ovation). 4. Service is top notch. For this price point don't pass this one or the Red Burst up, it's a steal. Sweetwater is my go to site. Give Joel a call, he'll gladly help you out with this or any other instrument.

I love a mellow David Crosby-esque tone to certain types of playing I do. I play slack key tunings so the built in tuner is really helpful. Coupled with a Lin 6 amp and a line 6 Echo Park Pedal , this is one really beautiful sounding guitar. It will get crispy too, but man, the mellow- full rich timbre is excellent.
