I installed the "F" spaced PAF 36th Anniversary in bridge position of Yamaha PAC212VQM on the suggestion of a guy at Dimarzio. The original Yamaha bridge humbucker had a great sound and dynamics but was way too loud compared to the 2 single coil pick ups in neck and middle positions. BTW, the Yamaha single coils sound fantastic on this guitar too. I got tired of setting up separate read more patches and boost pedal settings for when I select between pick ups while playing. I wanted a good sounding low output humbucker so I called Dimarzio and explained my situation. They recommended "try" this one. Since I had a set of PAF 36th Anniversaries in a different guitar that I sold I already new the sound I was getting. Well, it's still a bit louder than the other pick ups even though I have it level with the pick up ring which is quite low. But now it's way more manageable. Also, I did not wire it to automatically split the humbucker in any selector position. I'm going or a humbucker sound after all. Instead I wired it to be humbucker all the time and the push/pull pot turns it on/off in any selector position. This allows me to get neck and humbucker or all three on when I want. The tones I get are surprisingly very cool and useful. I might change it to split and then turn on bridge in any position another time. But, this works for now.

Just got the install, good match to the neck 57 classic, enjoy the single coil sound on my SG, especially when blended with the neck pickup!

Authentic PAF Tone

My first experience with these pickups was when I got my LTD EC-401 (Les Paul style) guitar from Sweetwater, which came with a set installed. They have that authentic PAF sound without any harshness in the high end. I recently purchased a used 2012 Les Paul Standard, with Burstbucker Pros, and was surprised that the LTD blew it away. Looks and feel were similar but the LTD sounded read more so much better. I tried everything I could to make the BB Pros work, rolling off the tone, adjusting the pickup heights, but nothing got it even close to the LTD. So today I installed a set of DiMarzion 36th Anniversary pickups in my Les Paul and now it sounds amazing. The cleans are sparkly, crunch sounds are rich and articulate and high gain sounds aren't boomy or harsh. I've been playing for hours. I highly recommend these pickups.
