Warmer than I thought...
Pros: - Just as dynamic as the video with Mr. Gilbert displays (seriously, this thing cleans up better than similar voiced pickups I've paid twice as much for). - Great midrange bark, smoother high end than I thought it would be (mine is covered if you believe that makes a difference) and the low end is plenty big and punchy without being muddy (at least in the context of a 'vintage'… read more pickup). - Has that signature Dimarzio 'vocal' or 'vowel' quality that many folks enjoy. - Is now the 'sweetest' bridge pickup I've laid ears on (videos can't really convey this quality, it has to be heard in person). Cons: - IS NOT a modern metal pickup (although clean picking can yield some great classic metal grind). - If you're looking for a high output pickup, look elsewhere. - Will not make you play as well as Mr. Gilbert. - This pickup will not hide sloppy playing. Overall, a very solid pickup that really surprised me. It isn't perfect for me, but it's a voicing I'm not quite used to and I'm really happy to try and improve my playing to use it to the fullest extent I'm able.
