Couldn't be more happy with this, sound is a definite upgrade from standard humbuckers
Love this pick up
Absolutely love this pick up. It came stock in my new 2019 Charvel USA Select. It was put in as the neck pick up, and a Super Distortion in the bridge. The HH set up is controlled with a 5 way switch. I can split the Humbuckers or play them full. The HH 5-way split is the best configuration I've played in a long time. It's really due to the PAF pro. With a super hot bridge… read more pick up like a Super Distortion, I have the most screaming high gain metal sound in the bridge. With the PAF Pro in the neck, I have a Hendrix tone. No joke, this guitar can make every tone from Hendrix to the heaviest high gain metal, in one guitar. Love this pick up! Try the HH five way split like this if you want a guitar with every tonal option.
Glorious Pup
I've had one on a basswood Ibanez RS2 with maple top and neck for thirty years. It has a clear, open tone with lovely harmonics and drives a valve amp well. It doesn't have the output of modern hot pups but I love it's sweet tone and it splits well too. I've had hotter pups in other guitars but for me this has the balanced, uncompressed tone that I like most.
I own these
I bought the dp 151 and 153 humbuckers about 20 years ago to replace my pickups in my Jackson dinky before I knew what I was doing. I stopped playing that guitar a very long time ago and it's been sitting in the closet. I just put them in my esp 2 nights ago to replace the stock ESP designed pickups and the sound killer. I'm playing through a Peavey 6505mh head on a 4x12 Marshall… read more 1960B cab. Only pedals in front of the amp are my TU3 tuner, ts9 tube screamer and isp decimator. So much clarity with the high gain I'm blown away!
Great pick up
I was looking at the Buck Dharma Signature guitar (not sold here) but I didn't like the guitar design. Besides, after more than 50 shows, I'd never seen him play one. So, I went with the pickups used in it to mod one of my guitars. I FLIPPIN' love this pickup! As well as the Tone Zone for the neck pup. Not for nothing, but the service I've received here has been WAY above and beyond any other place, out of EVERY SINGLE website on the internet that I've made a purchase from, no matter what I was buying. Be well people.
