Wow!! TC hit it out of the park
I've used several different vocal processors for live sound over the years. I absolutely love how compact this unit is and how instantly good it makes me sound. There is no need for all the options in the earlier TC units because this one sounds amazing as soon as you turn on the Tone button. The Reverb and Echo are both top notch! This is an outstanding unit, I'm so glad I found… read more it. My only complaint, there is no good built in way to mount to a mic stand. But you can solve the problem permanently by purchasing the "Roland APC-33 Electronic Module and Controller Mount with Clamp". Use some Velcro to stick the unit on that and now you've got a super-secure mic stand mount. Perfection!!
It's a blast!
There is nothing like the sound of voices singing in harmony, but there are times in life when such harmonious gatherings become few and far between, especially during this past year. I much prefer harmonizing with friends, but I do enjoy working out arrangements with the assistance of various vocal and guitar processors. This is my third such unit, preceded by a TC-Helicon VoiceLive… read more 2 (way too many useless presets for my taste) and a Boss VE-8 Acoustic Singer (very useful, but a bit complex, with many common settings requiring various combinations of key presses.) The Perform VG makes me smile. Not only does it sound good, but it's been very easy to learn. All the functions work as advertised, and making adjustments is a breeze. The vocal effects sound very natural, and the harmonies are exquisite. I haven't used the guitar effects, as I play through a TC Electronics Nova System that has been tweaked to my liking, but the Body Rez feature is very useful. Personally, in a live setting, I would use the harmony function sparingly, but I'm certain that the Perform VG through my Yamaha THR30-iiA would easily handle a coffeehouse gig. I do recommend the addition of the Switch 6 to easily change settings while playing. I've been having a great time playing old songs and enjoying the various harmonic configurations. It's a keeper!
More than you know
I've done a lot of reviews of this product and the reviews doesn't do it justice. This product meets and exceeds my expectations. I use this product for church use and for jamming at home. Each setting in the voice and the guitar is exceptionable, I can see where a player can be very creative with this device I feel you can't go wrong with this purchase. So plug it in plug… read more up and get creative. Hats off to the TC Helicon for a job well done with this device.
Adds the right touch
I bought this three months ago from SW. Very easy to setup. I thought that I was going to break the clamp when attaching it to the mic stand. The clamp is great and really holds. A goose neck allows you to tilt it to just the right angle. Eventually clamped it to a Hercules tablet holder just below the tablet. Buttons are easy to use but you need a foot switch to switch between… read more harmony combinations and reverb. Amazed at the functions that can easily be set to the foot switch. Best feature is how it cleans up the acoustic sound especially piezo. And nice add is the guitar thru so you can separate guitar from house system vocals. Thru will then listen to guitar for harmony but not present it on balanced vocal output. Practice is easy as plugging in the mic, power and guitar and holding headphone button during powerup. I do a lot of guitar picking but it has no problem figuring this out. Did I mention the guitar tuner at any key = capo on. Anyway it will be discovered in the future and you will get rid of the older voice models.
This Bad Boy Rocks
I bought the Performer VG a month ago and was using it in a live gig 2 days later. Downloaded a user manual off the internet and... Absolutely amazing! I was frustrated in the gig because I couldn't stop and hit the harmony button in mid play. I completely understood why other reviews said the Switch-6 pedal was a must! Guess what Fed-Ex delivered today??? You got it. Switch-6 pedal… read more is plugged in. Instructions in the VG manual made it simple to program all 6 buttons and I just did a run through on NOTHING ELSE MATTERS. Switching in and out of harmonies on the fly is effortless and oh so much fun! If you are a solo artist and considering this VG with the Switch-6 pedal, you will be absolutely amazed. WORTH EVERY PENNY for both if you are a solo/duo act. If you are a duo, just imagine hoe you both would sound through 2 units playing LUCKY MAN by Emerson Lake and Palmer... This unit is the real deal!
