Works Great!
Love this kit, the treble bleed really works, makes the Tone knob so much more useable, can roll off tone no change in volume or clarity.
Amazing upgrade!
I installed this upgrade on my 1997 Chinese Squire P Bass. I had already installed Fender replica '62 P Bass pickups. The install was easy and the improvement was immediately obvious in how linear and smooth the tone circuit is now. If you have an old Squire P Bass, you should definitely install this upgrade! Thanks to Jon for all his help in attaining this amazing upgrade!
WOW!!!
Just installed the Emerson Prewired Kit for Precision on my MIM Player Series P-Bass. Wow, what a difference it made! The bass already sounded great to begin with, but now it's a beast! I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to upgrade the factory potentiometers. Before replacing the stock pickups, you might start with this upgrade first. I'm very impressed with this… read more product!
Great Improvement
I recently installed this harness into my Squier Affinity P-Bass and it was super easy to drop in. I had to enlarge the holes on my pick guard a little bit then they fit like a glove! Wiring it up was super easy and now my tone and volume are much more usable and this bass sounds great now.
Might require slight modifications
So this is prewired for the style of precision bass that has the output jack on the front. Mine however, has the output jack on the side. Under the strap button. So the lead to the output jack was about an inch too short. It's not really a huge deal. I just desoldered that lead from the pots. Then laid everything out inside the bass, and marked where I had to strip the coating to… read more re solder the ground. Then I pulled it back apart, striped a small piece of coating where I marked it, then put heat shrink over the spot where Emerson striped it. Then I added about and inch of wire to the lead, and put some heat shrink over the solder joint. After that it was just a matter of putting everything in the bass. And Soldering the ground from the bridge, and the leads from my new Seymour Duncan SPB-3 Quarter Rounds. Whole project took less than an hour, and brought life back to my 22 year old p bass. Sounds amazing. The pots are smooth, but have just enough of a stiff movement that you can really dial in the knobs right were you want them. And overall, having everything prewired. Even with having to do some slight modification. It saved a lot of time and aggravation over doing a ground up wiring. Plus, the people at Emerson do some great work wiring everything to look nice and neat. It looks a lot better than the wiring that came in my bass from the factory. Not that anyone is every gonna pull the cover off to check out the wiring lol.
