Would Fit a PRS S2 McCarty 594
I just received it today and installed it in under 10 minutes. Its will fit a PRS S2 MCCarty 592. I replaced the neck volume on that guitar with a USA made PRS pot and it died again after 3 months, 2 weeks after getting the guitar for the first time the toggle switch was also replaced. I hope the mojotone harness last as it is CTS post and switchraft toggle switch and output. So… read more far it sounds great!
Superior quality components and build....utterly perfect....now the install.......
[Install] Maybe there is a magic way to get these tiny wires into the retainer clamps, I was losing my mind trying. I finally had to just create small wire solid leads from each of the ports and just tie the wires to each w solder and isolate. If you can get all the Duncan type small wire pickup gauge into that clamp block and all the grounds then truly the gods love you more than… read more me. Get yourself some small solid core wire, make some extensions, and save your sanity. I saw another guy on a demo resort to this idea and he said for sure it did not add noise or signal loss. Just use as short as possible and a good solder/tape or heat shrink. [QUALITY] This is a beyond superior quality harness, as professionally and robustly built as it would seem possible to do so. Attention to detail, insulation, and as good as it can get component quality. I love the solderless clamp thing, but, it is tedious and rather impossible for my utter lack of electronic skill to get the wires in and secure, seems the extensions work and they are more robust and isolated via solder and tape. Maybe not totally "solderless" but for sure the major nightmare of component connections and quality solder spots has been done and I do not think a human could do what Mojo has rendered here, this is a beyond pro level done harness.
Great products. Even better service!
I decide to upgrade the electronics, pickups and other components of an Epiphone Les Paul that I purchased a few years back. Sweetwater had everything I needed to complete the project so I placed some orders. Not only did they have everything I needed to complete my project, they also provided service that was outstanding - I still am reckoning with the fact that Alex, my customer… read more service advisor, called me personally to see if I was satisfied with my purchases. He also seems to track all of my orders personally. Who does that? I will definitely continue to work with Sweetwater moving forward. Just. Wow!
Mostly amazing!
I bought this for an Epiphone Les Paul Custom from the early 90's. I've tried other wiring harnesses that require soldering and always had problems. I can solder ok but in the guitar cavity things are too tight and I always mess it up or solder the wrong thing in the wrong place, etc. This was really very easy to install (after I widened the shaft holes with a 3/8 drill bit). Wiring… read more everything into the connection ports was mostly ok except the braided ground wire from the pickups took many tries to get it to attach (and a few curse words). Tight guitar cavity and flexible wire is just a rough combination. For Les Pauls I really wish the connector ports were spaced father apart from each other and the whole thing raised a bit so it wasn't recessed from the pots just to make wiring easier. But overall it's a win because this is the only wiring harness that worked for me, so yay!
Yes and No
Bought in an emergency and Sweetwater delivered! Overnight shipping which is awesome. Not so awesome is the product. Got it installed pretty easily, but attaching the wires is where it went awry. The post to attach the ground screw snapped off way too easily after a few delicate turns with a screwdriver, which left me having to solder the ground to a potentiometer in the old fashion.… read more After that, attaching the hot and ground wires from the pickups wasn"t the easiest task either. The wires from the pickups (Seymour Duncan) were too small of a gauge to get locked in the solderless connection, so again I had to break out the soldering iron and attach a heavier gauge wire to the pickup leads to get them to catch. Having said all this, once everything was hooked up I am more or less pleased with how they operate. Pots are smooth with a nice taper. Changing pickups is where the problem lies because I have to solder larger wire onto the leads, defeating the simple "in and out" purpose of this purchase. Not Sweetwaters fault, they were business as usual. Five stars for Sweetwater, 2.5 for Mojotone.
