A Beautiful Sounding Guitar with Amazing Looks
My review is of the Semi-Hollow Quilted top. This guitar is first of all just absolutely beautiful. Light weight and comfortable to hold and play. From clean tones to heavy distortion is can do it all. Smooth Rosewood Fretboard with bird inlays makes it look Classy!! Thanks to folks at Sweetwater and PRS!!!
Awesome
Love this guitar. Gorgeous guitar. Plays smooth. I love playing on these guitars. I play mine through an Orange Combo and sounds amazing. Very versatile.
3-years in; My go-to, my familiar friend, my #1
I bought the vintage sunburst of this guitar almost 3 years ago (I don't seem to see it here anymore but this is the same guitar in a different color). I ordered it plek'd, an option I'd recommend for any guitar. There is nothing about this guitar I can say is even mediocre - it stands with any guitar at any price I've ever played, and is THE most comfortable, fast playing, great… read more sounding gigging guitar I've owned (and I have had a few les paul customs, flaxwoods, american strats and teles, other prs (non-se)'s and .. you get the idea. It's also light, well balanced, good for high-gain, overdrive, clean, lets you control feedback (it IS a semi hollow, which concerned me a little when I ordered it, but has proven to to be a non-issue). Zach Garrison is a very attentive sales guy, and knew details about the guitar (looked at it before he shipped, brought it to the plek guy, etc). Between then, and now, I've bought numerous other guitars, to include another tele, another couple strats, a 7 string prs, a p90-lp, and when there is an important gig, I still grab THIS guitar and out the door. At one point, I replaced the pickups with dimarzio super distortions (see picture) - both neck and bridge... and TWO WEEKS later I plugged the stock pickups back in, as they actually sounded BETTER (still scratching my head over that one - I've used and loved SD's since the 80s, and this is the first time a stock import pickup won out). I have just ordered another guitar from Zach, and while I am waiting, I realized I haven't reviewed this one, or Zach. I'm also hoping the new guitar can actually be an "as good" alternative to this guitar, qas none of my other guitars can claim that status. So the ONLY thing I can say I dont like is the zebra pickup color - I prefer chrome/nickel OR at the worst, cream (I dont really even like black open coils).. but it's just a look and many folks do like the zebra look. I really don't know why PRS puts zebras in the se's - but it's just a personal thing. Anyway, there it is.
First PRS guitar .
Nervous about PRS guitars !!! Played other brands all my life. I took the plunge ! No regrets Guitar arrived in a nice soft case. Took the guitar out and saw this beautiful Stunning Yellow Santana finish no flaws. I put my strap on the guitar checked the tuning played it for 5 min. And snapped the high e string! After learning about PRS locking tuners and replacing the string… read more , I've been playing it for a month . I play it through my fender champ 2 for now . Will play it through my Marshall 40 cream back speaker and my Vox 15 custom . I will try my distortion pedals next . Great guitar I play a lot of slide guitar on this guitar . I left the 9s on,I may put an extra spring on to hold the tremolo a-bit. Pickups sound awesome and the push pull pot works well . Maple Neck rosewood fingerboard is fast and smooth. It has become my go to guitar. PRS guitar job well done .
