Excellent drop in for SE Zach Myers

I left a review giving 4 stars. I had tried to use/sand the nut myself, then took to a luthier since I failed. He decided to cut slots deeper and shim the plastic stock nut instead. I bought another and for whatever reason, this one dropped in flawlessly. Action is a little high but I doubt I'll sand this one. The resonance when tuning lasts much more than the stock nut and so far read more has increased tuning stability. I have gotoh locking tuners as well

I don't even know why I'm writing this because it goes without saying that this is one of the easiest and best upgrades you can do to your guitar. Also, Brad is the best. Always k ocks it out of the park for me.

Easy upgrade

Honestly, this is one of the cheapest and most effective ways to improve your guitar. The string forms nodes at the nut and bridge, so it makes sense to put some effort into these areas. While tone is subjective, the main appeal of TUSQ nuts for me is tuning stability and preventing strings from getting caught in the nut. Nut sauce works too, but using them both is a cheap and easy read more path to tuning stability (and perhaps even more sustain if you have discernable ears).

An Absolute Must-Have

For those who don't want to read a whole bunch of review, if you've got a PRS that has "sticky nut", such that using the tremolo throws your guitar wildly out of tune, this will absolutely solve your problems. Your guitar will come back to tune even after crazy dive-bombs. I highly recommend replacing PRS stock nuts with this GraphTech one. ----- To go a little more in depth, read more I recently bought a beautiful PRS SE Standard 24 here at Sweetwater. It was a great guitar straight out of the box, with two problems: First, the strings were a little too high -- that was very easy to fix. The second, and more serious, issue was that the strings had a problem with binding up at the nut. I'm not sure if the string slots were cut improperly or the material PRS uses is just too high-friction, but every time I used the tremolo, the guitar went severely out of tune. Anyway, after a little research, I decided to buy one of these PT-6643-00 nuts from GraphTech, and it has completely turned the tremolo situation around. I can literally can do dive-bombs and have the guitar come almost exactly back to tune. It also looks great, with a dignified matte-black color. Sometimes, there really is truth in advertising. Installation does require some patience, particularly if, like me, you're an amateur doing this for the first time, but it is absolutely doable for an amateur. You are going to need a handful of tools, which I'll list out below: *Automotive feeler gauge set *Sanding block, 220 grit *A razor blade or X-Acto knife *Wood glue *A flat work surface Alternatively, you can take it to an experienced luthier. If it's a more expensive guitar, that might be my recommendation. Still, if you end up doing the switch yourself, GraphTech has a few very helpful video guides on YouTube -- check 'em out. Overall, I unreservedly recommend this replacement nut. Besides solving my guitar's mechanical issues, changing the nut actually seems to have improved the sound a little bit, and at the very least nothing has become worse. In my opinion, PRS should really consider offering Tusq XLs as a stock option on their lower-end guitars. They might cost a little more, but players would be able to take full advantage of the otherwise excellent PRS tremolo system.

Perfect fit for Ibanez without sanding

I bought this to replace the nut on my Ibanez RGRT421. This one was identical to the old one. No sanding needed and WAY better tuning stability. If you have an Ibanez, this is the nut you need.
