Great bang-for-buck

Put these in my Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster after realizing that the stock pickups in it were more like P90s in a JM form factor than 'real' JM pickups. I have other P90s guitars, and I wanted a JM that sounded like a JM! Mission accomplished. Easy drop in replacement, and sound fabulous. I daresay my upgraded Squier (the AVRI pickups, StayTrem bridge saddle, and AVRI vibrato unit) read more holds its own - in terms of sonics, functionality, and playability - against the $+ American-made guitars.

The bridge pickup went out on my G&L Doheny, and I didn't have the patience to send it off for warranty work. Best decision. These pickups are so much better. Less raspy, more warm. They interact incredibly well with the low-end tone knob. I also own a Squier Jazzmaster, and to compare, they are the perfect high-end compliment to the Squier's garage-rock sound. Could not be more read more happy.

Game Changer

While I appreciated the craftsmanship in my American Professional Jazzmaster, it just never really caught my fancy sonically. These pickups changed all that. Having a Jazzmaster that actually sounds like a Jazzmaster has made it one of my go-to guitars. Can't say enough about these pickups. If you have a newer Jazzmaster, toss in a pair of these babies, and I promise you, if you read more liked the guitar before, you'll love it; if you loved it before, well, I'll leave that to your imagination.

Best upgrade for J Mascis Squier

Im a worship guitar player, and I love the feel of the Squier JM Jazzmaster. Its a great budget guitar and in my opinion its the best Squier model available. The feel of the guitar is great, electronics are good enough and even the vibrato system is stable. The only thing that I thought about changing was the pickups. The original pickups in the JM Jazzmaster are a little to dark read more and honky for the worship tones I was going for, but they worked for the time being. Decided that it was time to try something new and I picked up a set of these Vintage 65 Pickups. I installed them myself and was VERY.....I mean...VERY IMPRESSED. These pickups bring a wider range of clarity for you to work with. They Chime, and ring like bells...and I mean that in the BEST way. The tone has more bite that I was expecting and I LOVE IT. If you get these, you SHOULD be messing around with the tone and volume knobs to dial in your tone. I am the type of player that leaves all my guitar knobs up to 10...and when I tried that with these pickups, they were too harsh...now that's not bad because all I had to do was tweak the volume down a click or two and BANG...there it was...a tone that made my jaw drop. Here's my rational two cents. If you've got a Squire Jazzmaster model, these are an INCREDIBLE option for you to pick up. My personal experience with these pickups is this....its transformed my guitar...in fact, I know it sounds too good to be true, but they have made my Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster feel SIGNIFICANTLY more valuable...like top of the line Fender valuable. So, if you're looking to upgrade a Squier Jazzmaster and these pickups have caught your eye...My personal opinion is...DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND TAKE THE LEAP. Especially if you are a worship player, these fit a mix extremely well. JUST MAKE SURE TO DIAL IT IN.

A challenging project to take on. If you're not up to it, do find someone capable of installing for you. However you get it done, though, you will not regret the incredible jump up in tone and texture that these wonderful Original Fender Pure Vintage '65 Jazzmaster pickups provide. Similar pickups came standard with my Squier 60's Classic Vibe Jazzmaster, which I absolutely love read more playing. Yet, when upgrading to these, the same signature tone is there, but it is like going to another dimension. You can hear all of the subtle and also obvious differences right away. If you love a 60-70's Retro Vibe, you will love these and you cans till hear that Bell-Like Strat Chime on certain settings, as well. The range and clarity, as well as controlled distortion, that these pickups can deliver is most impressive for the most reasonable price at which Fender and Sweetwater sell them. Don't overthink it. Well worth the investment!!!!
