Lets get cons out of the way because there are a lot more pros to talk about. 1. Power switch is located in the back , right side midway down, its not easy find without looking for it. Its annoying enough I'll probably end up putting it on a powerstrip or something. 2. The two reverb dials for each channel are approx. the same place I'm back only on the left side. Why o why?… read more 3. The blue Led power light its so retina burning bright at night you cant see much of the control panel to make adjustments. I see a piece of tape finding a home soon over that led. Thats about it for any negatives and those are all ergonomic design placement issues that can be rectified in later versions. None of those things should keep you from considering this amp however especially if you are looking for one this size at this pricepoint. Its true the variable wattage doesnt affect volume a ton but it does change headroom and tone to some degree which is great because in conjunction with the tube mix dial/gain/volume you can dial in a range of tones. I already love the overdrive channel when the gain is set just to where it's starts to get distorted. The clean channel is simply the best ive heard in amp this size and price as well. The bright and tight switches add yet another dimension to the versatility and range. If you are a tone chaser this one might be the ticket. The genius of this amp is the ability to dial between the tubes using nothing but EL84 tubes or 6v6 or together. This feature makes this amp a standout and I am willing to bet this has the competition sitting up and taking notice. The first 30 minutes I was a hamfisted over eager kid twisting every dial but volume this way and that thinking oh its too loud for my bedroom I cant turn volume up more than a quarter turn. But no! See , the 3 tone knobs contribute in a major way adding lots of volume, more so than ive noticed in other amps but this is a good thing. Once I turned those down as far as possible I got a lot more play out of the volume and gain, then by very small adjustments I dialed in really sweet tones on both channels. To look at my treble/bass/mids where they are set you might say hmmmm but to hear the sweet tasty tone from the amp its niiiiiice! I like what Egnater is doing minus the sometimes weird places they put a switch or dial. I LOVE THIS AMP!! I even love the way it smells when the tubes warm up.
This amp "ROCKS" the sound spectrum!
The size and price of this amp will plain fool you. The tonal variations are endless and cover the waterfront for rock 'n roll - country - blues - jazz - and metal (heaven forbid)! The volume, the clean tones, the attack, the clarity, the warmth, the distortion - all are endlessly chosen by the player. I do suggest a "tone card" to have so one can dial in their favorite sound for… read more each guitar they run through it. It's very pedal friendly as well. I cannot say enough good things about this amp - I just love it better than amps costing twice as much and more.
Awsome power and a lot of combinations
I was chasing a small amp to do rehearsal and small venues because my amps are 2x12, 4x12...very bulky and heavy. I tried Orange, Marshall, Fender but when I found this one I was intrigue about the EL84 and 6v6 mixing tubes...I ordered of course. When received it I found that it might be a joke..."it's so small!!" I connected the thing and from that moment my mind was blown away!!!… read more The power was incredible, bery very heavy dist and sweet sweet clean and I said..."I FOUND IT" I tried different guitats including a Gibson Custom Silverburst, Duesenberg Paloma, Fender Strat and it just do the job very very well. I recommended this real "Tiny Terror"
Exactly what I wanted
Everything that I was hoping for! There isn't much in the way of online demos for this amp so I was really apprehensive about buying it but it really is great. You can get classic marshall and fender tones out of it as well as more unique sounds by playing around with the tube blending and the switches. The attenuation knobs don't really reduce the volume so much as adjusts… read more the amount head room but it does still sound pretty impressive at lower volumes so it hasn't been an issue so far. The stock speaker sounds great, I've run it through a 2x12 with greenbacks and it sounded alright but the stock speaker sounds warmer and more like a cream back into comparison. I would really recommend this amp if you're doing sessions with multiple people or if you're just a commit-a-phobe when it comes to amp sounds, it's definitely worth the money!
