Mesa Boogie Recto-Verb
After much research I decided to move to a Mesa Boogie amp to allow me a bit more versatility performing different types of songs. The Recto-Verb was ultimately my choice and I was immediately impressed with the sound and tone. Having been a loyal Marshall guy for as long as I can remember, the Mesa truly impressed and is exactly what I need from clean to over-driven. Definitely… read more happy with my decision. My only complaint would be that the single switch footswitch could be improved to switch between all modes instead of just the two channels.
Shouldn't have waited this long!
First a huge shout out to my SE Jeff Rohlfing, the guy is awesome! I had been eyeing this amp for quite a while but never pulled the trigger for a number of reasons (excuses really). Jeff talked me through the pros and cons of this vs another Mesa amp I was also interested in and steered me towards the Rectoverb thinking it ticked all the boxes. As usual, Jeff was right. This… read more amp is small but plenty loud and full of great tone. Even on the 10 watt setting sitting on the floor it's more than loud enough to keep up with the 2 other guitarists in my rock cover band, and has enough in the tank to boost leads with an EQ in the loop. A lot of people associate Rectifiers with metal, and this can certainly get you there but it's so much more than that. The clean is crisp and full and the pushed clean is something you just have to hear for yourself. So much fun with some good delay and reverb. The modern and classic gain will get you anywhere you need to go in that territory and it will take dirt and boost pedals in front quite nicely. One last note - read the manual. I'm not a manual guy either but someone gave me this advice so I heeded it. There's some do's and don'ts in there that you should be aware of that could potentially save time and money. Overall I'm very happy with this amp. It's reasonably light at 41 pounds and surprisingly small but sounds huge and is one of the most versatile tube amps I've owned. There's plenty of videos out there so check them out to hear how it sounds and if you are on the fence about this amp, get off it and go buy one!
Excellent Choice
Great amp! Great sound, sure works for what I'm doing, rocking out in the living room.
One of the best combo!
I had many many many combo included mesa california tweed 40, two rock sp35: it's very good with plenty of headrooom. But the punch of this little beast in clean, crunch od and disto is unbeatable. It's good at very low volume and not boxy. It's incredible how good for the size. No noises! It takes pedals very well. One of the best! This amp is a little beast!
Purchased from elsewhere, but thought I'd chime in and say this little amp is a total beast. You can cover pretty much any type of music with this amp. It isn't cheap for its size, but worth every penny.
