Purchased for an old mexican Jazz bass

it was a great fit, did not need to shim, had this installed by Elderly Instruments in Lansing. they also milled the holes for the Fender Tuners i had chosen for this restoration. the bass plays better than it did new. ive had this on my bass for a little over a year now, and its not needed any further setup. overall very pleased.

Nice Neck But Needed Work

Descriptions says gloss on headstock face but it is the entire fretboard as well. When I took to my local tech they said the nut fell apart when they tried to work on the slots. I had them remove the gloss on the fretboard and install a new nut and it feels really great now.

My Neck Also a Lemon

Kind of funny seeing another comment about their Fender neck not being up to expectations. Don't get me wrong the neck is BEAUTIFUL, but it sounds and plays horribly. Truss rod works, but I can hear it rattling around inside the neck, which I have never heard on any instrument before. If you tap the back of the neck you can hear a loose metal on wood sound, and this is with the read more truss rod tensioned. I've set the neck up to Fender specs and there is buzz all over, the higher frets above 15 fret out completely. I think it needs some major fret work/ leveling. I've taken it to a professional shop for a setup too to make sure it wasn't just my setup. Extremely disappointed, both of my squier basses play and sound MUCH better.

MY NECK WAS A LEMON

I looks beautiful. Truss rod worked. Had to shim this neck and it was going directly on a Fender Jazz bass. Mounting holes lined up but obviously something off at the heel. Set the bass up after all that to Fender specs. Perfect but had buzz everywhere. Had to do a total fret level and re-crown. High frets at different places up and down the fret board. Must have been a Monday morning read more fret job. A lot of work for a more expensive neck and I have come to expect more from the Ensenada plant as I've bought many that came from there with no problems at all but this one was a lemon. The nut was so high I had to file slots. Of course the nut was cheap cheap cheap and snapped in half and I was not even bearing down. Replaced with a Tusq nut. I have had necks from China much better than this neck at a fraction of the cost. Too much work at this price. All done but the crying now but Fender needs to step up it's game here.
