I have been searching for a StringRay bass bridge upgrade and decided to give the RayRoss a try. The result is a clean natural sustain (for days!) on my go-to fretless. Well worth the investment!

So yeah, the Ross bridges have been installed on the Jaguar and the Jazz. Nickel finish for the Jaguar and black for the Jazz which extends the color scheme from top to bottom what with the black block fret inlays. I know totally cosmetic but still... As with the first one on the P bass, install was done with a string change and maintenance. Tried a very fine, like sewing machine read more fine, machine oil on the action height adjustment but will still suggest detune, make adjustment, retune and try. I did break the tip oft the tool trying to adjust a tensioned string. No bueno and would have been even less so had I not had another tool on hand. Another suggestion is to start from a high position and adjust downward instead of low to high. Just worked quicker for me. Would like to see Ross add some better adjustment instructions and maybe toss in another tool.

Oh great now I have to buy one for every bass...

Was looking for a new bridge to help me really dial in action height and intonation and found the Ray Ross here at Sweetwater. The engineering looked fantastic, and the execution is outstanding, its just a beautiful thing overall. You have to love it when design and manufacturing come together so well. Installation was simple, five screws out and five screws in, done. Total read more time was less than five minutes as part of general maintenance to include neck and fret conditioning. Never having replaced a bridge before I did not know about the ground wire, surprise. Didn't weigh the Ross in comparison to the Fender from the P bass but it is much, much heavier. Once mounted setting the action height with the provided "wrench" was simple and much more predictable than with the stock bridge. The pitch rate of the screw adjustment on the Ross feels very much finer than the OEM. Found that de-tuning the string before change height setting prevented the string from bending at the post. Next string change I may try a little graphite on the adjustment screw. Intonation was a straightforward process as well, no issues and again more predictable. Only playing difference for me is with palm muting, don't have the OEM set screws sticking up and there's a better resting surface as it were. The Ross bridge is kind of like one of those really trick looking bolt-on performance parts you put on your car/bike that really and truly works. Just have to figure out which guitar gets one next.
