Amazing! And so glad I purchased instead of Big Sky

Ryan

It came down to the Big Sky and this for my 18" direct-in compact board. After only a couple hours of using it I have no regrets and confident I made right choice. The RV-500 provides amazing features like the addition of delay with every patch and the ability to run 2 patches at once. After owning the ES-8 and MS-3, I quickly figured out the programming pattern and able to write read more some amazing sounding patches. I have concluded that the negative reviews are primarily from people not patient enough to learn the unit, unlocking it's potential. Bottom line, you get amazing reverb AND delay in one unit for significantly less than the Big $ky.

Amazing Space Echo

I bought this unit primarily for the Space Echo mode. Having owned two RE-501 units in the distant past, I needed something that faithfully reproduced that sound. I did my research, and downloaded the manuals beforehand, and found the options I was looking for. While some complain that it sounds thin, I would remind people that the RE-501 could sound thin as well, depending on how read more the treble and bass settings are used. Luckily, the effect has controls that account for this. In addition, there are also modulation depth and rate controls that introduce a chorus-like effect, similar to that of the RE-501. You'll want to leave the rate at about 20% and a depth of no more than 50%. The RE-501 had a fixed rate. The Space Echo mode also has a built-in 3-spring reverb type, which I recommend leaving at around 50% as well. The reason I got this over the DD-500 is due to needing it for several other reverb applications as well. I plan on purchasing both the DD-500 and MD-500 as well quite soon. In the meantime, this little unit did everything I needed. I highly recommend the PC-based editor as well, as it lays out the options neatly, and so that there is no need to scroll through the settings.

It's Got It All

I did my research and even both a few pedals thinking I would "settle" for less and make it work. I even tried an Oceans12 but that didn't fill the need. Boy am I glad I went with the RV-500. I knew the 1st 5 minutes that I made the right choice. It has all the essential presets and then some. Hours of exploration and if you find that unique sound you've been looking for you can read more save it for future use. And so happy with Sweetwater and Jeff Barnett is the best. He understands the quirks of an aging musician.

Crazy pedal

Best reverb I’ve ever used. Spent the last week experimenting with this pedal. Endless array of choices with the ability to change any of them to tastes with the edit function. The delays really expand your creative palette. Can’t say enough about how I would recommend this pedal.

Never Ending Reverb plus more

How can anyone not fall for this pedal? Compare it to any reverb on the market I don't care what price they are. This thing is simply amazing. The depth of reverb effects alone it has not to mention all the other things it does but if you only use it for Reverb effects, you will never ever run out of ideas for your songs. I can see this pedal lasting a lifetime and still never run read more out of cool tools to build your music with it. I think it will grow with you one time. I'm a old Fender Reverb spring kinda guy as I grew up on Twin Reverb amps in my early years before I went down the dark road of high gain. Most high gain amps do not have great built in Reverb or none at all in most cases and this thing can drop right into your effects loop and give you plush clean pure sounding spring tank reverb and any other reverb tone you could ever want. I could write a full review on this pedal and how much I'm thankful Boss built it. But I think as a player you need to take it home, set aside a weekend to really explore it and find your music tools inside. Those ideas you have in your head and heart waiting for the right tools to express them are here now. This is the one people. Enjoy it as I do.
