These strings have done more for my guitar playing than anything else.
.7 Gauge is incredible. They are so loose they take a bit of getting used to but after a few months of playing them I am a totally different lead guitar player. Its just so ridiculously EZ to bend and vibrato it makes me feel like I'm some kind of super hero. It seems tragic to me that I started out playing heavy strings and I never wanted to drop the tuning down so I didn't get… read more bends and vibratos down for years, when really vibrato is the magic that makes a note sound like more than just a note. Vibrato is the first thing I should have learned and these .7 gauge strings make it EZ without tuning down your guitar. I can bend and shake these strings all day without ever tiring out my hands. for lead guitar playing absolutely YES. They give you superhuman bending and vibrato capabilities.
I LOVE THESE STRINGS !!!!!
07 strings are extremely light. they improved my playing just by putting them on. Bending is effortless now. even if you think you have no trouble bending other gauges you will be able to rock these strings even more. Bending up a whole step, holding the note there and adding vibrato is effortless now even in standard tuning. Regardless of what I have heard online they {DO NOT}… read more go out of tune when I wack on power chords, I think everyone who wants effortless bending should try these on a guitar just to see if you like them because they are so drastically different form even 08 gauge strings that you might just absolutally love them like I do. I did put them on a floating tremello system. Something people on line said not to do but I did it and they work just fine. of course the tension difference is so dramatic that you need to know what you are doing before you try to do this but it works. I had to pull out a spring in the back and I had to tighten the string clamps extra tight to hold on to the B string but it works just fine and its a joy to play. : )
My new favorites
After spending my youth being a heavy string player I wised up and started a journey towards the light. Thankfully The Rev. Billy led me to salvation. These take some adjusting to but you're better off leaning to use a lighter touch anyway. Once you've re-achieved equilibrium these are almost like a cheat code for guitar. Everything is easier. I can play faster, smoother, longer,… read more etc. I've found that they hold their tune quite well and haven't broken any (again, light touch). This is highly subjective and true of all light strings in my opinion; but they just sound better and record better. There's way less bass bloating up the sound. If you need to thicken up just adjust your amp or plugin accordingly. Long story short; even if you're young like me do yourself a favor and get ahead of tendonitis and play 7's.
Easy On The Fingers
I played 10s all my life till about ten years ago when I developed psoriatic arthritis. Went to 9s then 8s. I've been playing Rev. Willie's for over a year now. I put them on my 24 3/4" and 25 1/2" scales. I'm hooked on 7 gauge strings. I won't play anything but Dunlop Rev. Willie's 7 gauge strings because they're good and no one else makes them.
