Pickups are second to Sweetwater
I bought these for a Jackson I was modding. The first set had a bad bridge pickup. Sounded really thin. Called Sweetwater, they made it right, very quickly. Got the new ones in, guitar sounds amazing.
The sound in my head
I recently changed out my Gibson 490s for these Saturday night special pickups and I was so NOT disappointed!! Exactly what I was looking for. The bridge pickup has Great articulation and has that midrange bark I've been searching for. The output is more than my Gibsons were and it cleans up nicely with the turn of my volume knob. The neck pickup is Phat and juicy. Warm and articulate… read more as well. The middle position is killer for cleans and reminds me of Slash's clean tone. If you want a pickup that checks all these boxes and isn't quite as hot as a ceramic pickup then these are your jewel. I wish I had tried these long ago.
Amazing experience so far
Put about 10 hours in so far and although pickups can be difficult to review for everyone I'll try to help. Firstly, I upgraded from the JB 59 set and it's an objective improvement in clarity and sound quality. The marketing is spot on and I'm surprised by the bridge pickups output honestly...in a good way. These also feedback much more than my previous pickups, but in a very natural… read more way. I'm surprised these don't have more hype, most people go with the pearly gates or other alternatives but I'm very very happy with this pickup. Was it worth the money? That's up to you, but you probably wouldn't be on this specific pickup if you didn't take your gear seriously and if that's the case then they absolutely are worth it.
These are truly special!!!
I have a LP with a JB/Jazz in it, well I decided to get these Saturday Night's for a Lead III that I modified, WOW!!!!!!!!! I am going to put these in my LP now! these Saturday Nights are the Sh#$! All I can say is there is bite but it's round and articulate, it's got muscle without getting dark. In the description of the pickups it says it's reminiscent of 70'a rock sounds, that's… read more right on point! Lower the volume it's a beautiful clean tone. I know Paul Kossoff had PAF's but this set can get in that realm! Don't Think, get!
Saturday Night Special Seymour Duncans
The pickups were exactly what I was looking for but the real credit goes to Sweetwater! The before AND after sales experience was like none I have ever experienced from ANY supplier! Awesome service staff! I will always recommend and use Sweetwater for all my guitar gear purchases!
