I have a lot of guitars and this one out preforms them all. Built amazing plays amazing and sounds amazing. Top that off with the amazing customer service and it created a lifetime customer.

Mountainous Difference

Finally, I settled on the Silver Mountain… read more after forum upon forum praised Schecter for their consistency in QC and value; I can now say with certainty that I too am part of that fan club. The stainless Steel frets have a near mirror-like finish to them and are rounded perfectly with the edge of the fretboard. After a few minutes of bending and shameless noodling, I found myself wondering why nickel still remains an industry standard on guitars priced over $1K, especially when taking into consideration the exponentially better durability, these were a revelation. The Floyd can be a hand full when changing strings, but playing and tuning are a breeze and pairing it with the Sustainiac makes for endless (literally) fun. Speaking of which, the Sustainiac surprises with it's versatility and potential for practical application despite the gimmicky nature of it's premise. With the sustainer off, it's single-coil voicing is enthralling and clear, yet eager to be pushed to it's limits with some gain. The Sonic Seducer does a fine job as a bridge pickup, feisty without sounding totally rabid. My only complaint on the hardware front would be that, with the sustainer turned on, the neck position changes to a more shrill humbucker sound that actually seems much closer to a bridge tone; however, I hardly find that worth deducting points over considering it's performance in all other scenarios. All I can say is Schecter has not only offered me a quality instrument, but a change in perspective. While $... would get you binding that looks like a 3rd grader's play-doh art, or finishes that crack within the year of a guitar being in it's case from certain legacy brands (and you probably know which one I'm referring to), Schecter offers impeccable fit and finish, materials, hardware, and build quality. Not only surpassing my more expensive guitars through it's feature set, but also through factors reflective of proper craftsmanship such as seemingly unending sustain (even with the sustainer off), impressive acoustic resonance, and tuning consistency. Simply put, it's taken me somewhere new and I don't see myself going back.

Best feeling guitar I've played

This is my first 7 string and I'm more of a tone freak, but aside from the above averagr clean tone from the bridge pickup, This guitar is amazing gor dirty leads, chugging, metal styled technical playing and the stainless steel frets make a huge difference. I recommend getting it with some 9.5s to really fly! If this had an EMG OR a Seymour duncan in the bridge it would be 6 stars… read more out of 5. Definitely a great guitar for the price. I can even play jazz with it.

More than just a pretty face

The first impression you get is of the finish. It's simply gorgeous. I just stared in awe for the first couple of minutes after unpacking it. Then, the best part, playing it. I played it unplugged at first to get a feel for it since it's my first 7 string. I instantly fell for the speed and playability of the 16 inch radius fretboard and the extra bass notes on the low B string,… read more which is easily accessible because the neck isn't much wider than a standard 6 string. Plugging it in was like Frankenstein bringing his monster to life. The tone of this guitar is nothing less than beautiful. When playing on the clean channel, it has texture and resonance like nothing I've ever heard from any other guitar. Kick on the overdrive and it turns into a powerhouse. Whichever position the pickup selector blade is in makes it scream in the best way possible. The pickups are so responsive they make even the smallest flaws in technique clear as day and forces you to tighten up your fingering. Then there's the Sustaniac. The sonic capabilities this feature provides are endless and I can't wait to see where these options take my music. I've never been unhappy with any Schecter guitar I've played but this one is something special. And who doesn't love a Floyd Rose tremolo to dive bomb those harmonics? The price tag might seem high but you're getting more than you pay for so don't let it scare you away. If you're looking for a great 7 string consider the Silver Mountain, you can't go wrong with it in my opinion.
