Does hollow body things
The Schecter Corsair is an amazing bass. It has that fat, woody hollow body sound. It's a very playable bass; it has a 38mm nut width which puts it into Jazz neck territory. The curve on the sits easily in the hands, it is a narrow neck and super easy to get around the fretboard. One of the easiest basses to play in my collection. And I love an ebony fretboard. It was a little… read more dry when I got it, which is common with ebony. A little F-one oil fixed that right up. The pickups are Tbird style, and are a great match. I have a set of LaBella 760 flats on it, and it just has that vintage tone. If you are looking for a bass to do hollow body things, this is a good one. The two band eq does well, a step up from a tone knob. It brings some versatility to the instrument. Did I mention it has sustain for days? You can feel the body resonate as you play. Out of the box the setup was perfect. I haven't had to adjust anything. One thing I don't like is the finish on the back of the neck. It has a gloss finish which I don't appreciate on the neck; this is very subjective and easily fixed by applying some Fast Fret to the back of the neck. Shoutout to Kyle Austin, my sales engineer. I called him interested in a semi hollow body and this one wasn't on my radar. But Kyle recommended it, and Schecter is a good brand, and it was the right choice.
Corsair hollow body bass Schecter
Outstanding bass. Perfect tone, lightweight, easy to play. Classic look. My favorite bass.
Great sounding and playing semi-hollow bass
I've always been a fan of Schecter guitars, but had never tried one of their basses (even though bass is my primary instrument). I had a Gretsch hollowbody that I played for years, but with my shorter arms, it was always a touch big for me. I ended up buying a Warwick Star Bass, which felt nicer, but I didn't care for the shorter scale length. When I saw Schecter came out with this… read more bass, I was pretty stoked to try one. Out of the box the fit and finish were great. I did a minor adjustment to lower the action to my liking, and then it was ready to go. The T-bird pickups work great in this bass, and unlike the dual volume controls found in many semi-hollow and hollow offerings, this one has the more familiar volume and blend, with a separate bass and treble control, which is more to my liking. The strings were a touch bright that were on it for my taste, but that too was an easy fix. My old Gretsch had some D'Addario Chromes on it, and a demo for the Corsair I saw had Labella Deep Talkin' Flats, which sounded nice. However, I had a set of DR Black Beauties lying around, and they were just right. Still plenty of top end like typical roundwounds, but helped cut just a bit of the edge off. I have a pretty substantial bass collection, ranging from a lower end import up to hand made custom basses, and I am completely satisfied having this part of the stable. Check it out! Great bass for the price.
