Wish it sounded as good as it looks
I've been playing guitar for around 30 years. In that time, I have played a lot of guitars. This one is nowhere near the worst one, but it isn't the best one, either. The fit and finish of the guitar are absolutely spectacular! Not a scratch or ding, super slick action on the fretboard, and the inlays look so nice in person! The tuners aren't great. They're not terrible, but they… read more aren't very smooth or stable. I'm constantly retuning this thing. Every time I pick it up, Every note is sharp... Not sure why they get tighter, but it's VERY consistent. The toggle switch stopped working on me within a couple of weeks, too. Fortunately, I'm pretty good with electronics, and it seems like it got something inside it that was keeping it from touching the contacts. I cleaned it out good, and it has worked fine ever since, but a less experienced player might not be able to figure that one out. One other annoyance, for me, is the location of the bridge volume knob. I kept turning the volume down gradually while I was playing because it is RIGHT against the high e string, next to the bridge pickup. Every palm mute, less volume. I flipped the volume controls for the bridge and neck pickups, but the wiring just barely reaches. Not that it is supposed to, but they could've left an inch more wire on the bridge pickup. This did solve part of my issue, rolling off the volume while playing, but the knob is so close to the strings, that I hit it from time to time, too. I haven't accidentally hit the switch, though. Which is good. The final issue that killed my enjoyment of this guitar is the pickups. Terrible. If you play clean, they sound perfectly fine. Maybe a little muddy, but not bad, at all. However, if you like distortion, which I imagine most players who play 7 string these days do, forget it. the bottom 3 strings blend together so much, that you can just barely hear the separate chords. It all just muddies together and loses all articulation completely. I've been fighting it on my line 6 spyder because the I've been having a hard time dialing in the sound I'm looking for due to this very issue. I thought it was the amp, until I plugged in an Epiphone Les Paul Classic Pro I also have around. The differences in the pickups was IMMEDIATELY obvious. I could play the exact same songs on the LP with the exact same preset, but it sounded WAY clearer and more articulate! Even on the same exact strings! I was blown away by how muddy and terrible these pickups are since Schecter winds some of their own pickups. I was also surprised that these pickups aren't available to purchase from them, even though there are quite a few others to choose from in their shop... I don't know if they wind these themselves, but they aren't anything special, anyway. If I was looking at this guitar to buy, I would probably look for anything by them with pickups that they ACTUALLY wind and sell separately on their website, and avoid any of their guitars with these terrible pickups. For the price, I'm not unhappy with this purchase, but I would be happier if it was more usable from the factory. Not even my old 90's bronze Warlock sounded this muddy and unusable... Highly disappointed with my first Schecter guitar.
Schecter 7 String
This was my first seven string guitar, and I was very pleased with the outcome in purchasing the Schecter. It also goes without saying that A J did a fantastic job in assuring that my guitar got delivered without a hitch.
THIS IS ONE BAD*** GUITAR
For the price this is a steal. And I've played quite a few SE7ENS. FInish is excellent the action is great and the neck is super nice. Sounds great too. No complaints and dig the 26.5" scale
Couldn't ask for anything better!
Bought this guitar about 2 months ago. It being my first 7 string I have never been let down with schecter. Sounds awesome and was everything I was hoping to get out of it and even better didn't break the bank! Thanks Sweetwater!
Amazing Guitar for the Price!
Never met a Schecter I did not like so ordering this was an easy choice. The quality of the build, inlays, frets and stock pickups you just can't find at this price point. The gloss quilt maple top is dreamy and the maple neck has a smooth satin finish which I love. Great tone and string through always produces endless sustain. As always Alex and Sweetwater are at the top of their… read more game going above and beyond. The best in the biz!!
Absolute steal
This guitar was an absolute steal at this price point. Schecter loads their guitars with features at any price. Switched out the stock pickups for Duncan's and this thing roars. I'm definitely a Schecter fan for life.
Schecter. 7 string Omen Extreme.
Great guitar. Awesome finish. Everything i was expecting. Only thing is the passive pickups aren't that great but knew that when buying this guitar. Have Fishman Fluence Modern in my other guitar and was planning to install into this one. Sweetwater is an excellent company and will buy from them again. Great sales staff.
