Best Of Both Worlds
As a long time Fender amps guy, I didn't know much about Rivera until recently and I was complaining to a fellow musician about why electric guitar amps sounded so sterile with acoustic/electric guitars or PA systems. I have 4 acoustics and 4 electrics. He said "you need a Rivera Sedona or a Sedona Lite". After some research, I ordered a Lite 55 from Sweetwater and its almost like… read more someone designed this amp specifically for me. Upon arrival of the amp, I plugged in my Gibson Hummingbird acoustic and it was a near religious experience. I ran it through my L. R. Baggs Venue and then straight in with incredibly good results either way. Ok, now lets see what it can do with my vintage Les Paul Custom. A much thicker tonally rich result than with my Twin Reverb either with or without effects pedals. This is real keeper of an amp. Something few people seem to mention in reviews is build and parts quality. This amp is built like a tank, you can see and it and feel it. Congrats to Rivera for an incredibly well thought out and executed product worth every nickel you will pay for it.
Smooth
I could say a lot about this amp. Keep it short. Best tube amp I've heard. Everything you'd expect from Rivera...as good as it gets. And a fair deal from Sweetwater.
My New Favorite Amp!
This review has to start with the outstanding service I've received from my Sales Engineer Robert and the rest of the Sweetwater team. I had previously purchased a different Amp (name purposely withheld) from Sweetwater about 8 months ago. It developed problems with the tone circuits and Sweetwater sent the amp back to the factory twice where they were unable to find the problem.… read more Needless to say, I no longer wanted the amp and preferred to purchase another brand. I expected that I would get a credit for a portion of my original purchase price. I was in error. Robert and the Sweetwater team credited my full purchase price. WOW, how's that for great customer service. Enough of that, after all this is a review my new Rivera Sedona Lite 55 watt. What I was originally looking for was a great pedal amp. This amp deliveres that better than any other amp I own. What's great about this amp is that no matter how loud I play it doesn't add any gain of it's own, so my effects stay unaffected by the amp. The 2nd benefit I get with this amp is channel #1 which is primarily for acoustic guitars. Turning on the tweeeter and having 55 watts of headroom makes them sparkle. Additionally, this amp is equipped with a balanced input. Before I started using this feature I didn't feel that it was really important. Boy was I wrong. I own a Taylor T5z. Prior to this amp I always felt that this guitar fell short on it's dynamic range. Playing it through this amp gave it a totally new voice where the guitar just came alive. Bottom line is that if you're looking for an amp where your pedals do most of the tone shaping or your looking for one of the best acoustic amps around, you need to seriously consider this amp.
A Great All Around Amp!
After an hour or so of learning the features, controls and adjustments possible, I really appreciate the thought that went into the design and construction of the Rivera Sedona Lite 55. Starting with Taylor K24 and K66 guitars, I found the great bass I can never get enough of, along with the shimmering treble of the 12strings right up front and center. This was an impressive improvement… read more over the Fender Acoustic Pro 200 ( I liked and was happy with). The direct out and effects loop are really convenient and the Taylor guitar input produces a noticeable improvement in tone quality. As a bonus, I have found my Telecaster works well with the Sedona Lite though a small increase on the volume adjustment knob is needed to maintain volume with the Taylors. Thanks Sweetwater!
