Great on my Les Paul Studio
I really like the feel and response of these strings on my Les Paul Studio. The light .009 E string is quite friendly to the fingers on bends, and the sturdy .046 on the bottom balances out the feel on chords and heavier playing perfectly. Worth the extra in my opinion.
Won't use anything else on my Les Paul after playing these
I've had these on my Paul for probably about 4 months, and while I haven't put them through extreme use, I've definitely been playing it regularly and they have held up much better than I thought they would have since I heard that nickel strings might not last as long. I'll put a new set on soon, but I am beyond impressed with these and will be using them on that guitar from here… read more on out. You can't complain with getting a couple months out of a set with regular use, and these exceeded that this time around. Tone wise, they are a little more mellow than a regular old slinky or boomer, but to me they sound better over all. They provide a full, warm, yet bright right where you want it to be sound. They feel great to the touch as well. Don't think these are just a vintage string either, I play anything from country, classic rock, to metalcore. I enjoy The King Elvis Presley as much as I enjoy The Devil Wears Prada. These strings sound great no matter what genre I play. I rarely even write reviews for products, but these strings deserve it and I don't want them to go away so I will sing their praise for others to hopefully try and love them as I do!
Gibson Les Paul SEG-LES Signature Gauge Strings
.009 broke during the first 20 minutes of play on a properly polished lubricated saddle after a 24 hour break-in delay followed by gentle handling and minor tuning. The .046 is far too long and requires some tricky measurement and sharp bending at the peg after a careful trim. Now my strings don't match and I'm not very happy.
