Broke in less than a year

Thomas Boudreau

I replaced my old string winder of similar design that I had and used for over 35 years because it was marking up the finish on my pegs on my new Taylor. This winder was functionally the same as my old one and didn't seem to mark my pegs since it appeared to be a softer plastic. That was good, it solved my problem, and I was happy. This evening about an hour ago I was changing read more my strings and, Pop! the handle broke off of the winder body. I noticed the the two parts were attached, not by a metal screw like my old one, but by a plastic pin that sheared off. Bottom line, save your buck fifty and buy a better winder.

Fat Peg Winder

This peg winder is great for acoustic guitars and guitars that have a 3/3 split of the tuners on the headstock (e.g. Les Paul). However, if you need a winder for a guitar where all 6 tuners are on the same side of the headstock (e.g. Ibanez RG), this winder is a little too fat for the job. It bangs into the other tuners next to the one you're winding up. To get around this you'll read more have to position the the tuners you're not winding in a way that gives space for this peg winder. Again, this does work great on acoustic guitars and electric guitars with a 3-3 tuner split (like my PRS).

Minimally operational

These things are just barely passable as string winders and that's all they are supposed to be. They're like the toothbrushes you get at the dentist - fine if you don't have a better one and you're glad you have it if something happens to your good one. At the very least the have the groove at the end to pull your acoustic bridge pins so you don't go reaching for pliers. Keep read more at least one of these in your gig bag/case and I promise at some point you will thank god it was there.

Great String Winder

It does the job. I've used these since day one of playing guitar, I bought one at the music shop when I bought my first guitar (16 years ago). I have had the SAME ONE SINCE! Still works perfect lol. Ive recently bought more put pull in all my cases with my guitars so there handy when needed. The only gripe I have is on a few of my reversed headstock guitars they clank and hit the read more other tuners on the guitar. Other than that great product, as usual Dunlop!

Does what it's s'posed to
