These are the ones!
These are the third set of pickups I have tried in my 1995 Les Paul Studio and these are keepers! After several decades I finally have the Les Paul sound I wanted.
Seth Lover Pickups
I had heard about the wide range of tone you can get out of a Les Paul with vintage pickups. It is true. I put these in the Stewmac kit I bought a few months ago. Very impressed.
Seth Lovers > Burstbucker '61 pickups
I never really connected with the Burstbucker '61 pickups in my 2020 60's Les Paul Standard, which I bought from Sweetwater a year and a half ago with Ben Porter helping me to chose a great on. The '61s have too much treble and too much bass. Cleanish tones thru my 1965 Bassman seemed a little harsh. Turning my Marshall SV20 up enough to negate the bright cap (6 on the high treble… read more channel) was a little more distorted than the crunch I was looking for. Backing off guitar volume still didn't do it. And the neck pickup was useless with that amp. So I installed a set of Seth Lovers yesterday morning, followed by new strings and a complete setup. Installation was super fast with the single conductors. I plugged it into my Bassman first and WOW! The neck pickup sounds like a Les Paul should. Plenty of upper mids and treble but not all harsh. And the bottom end is there without being boomy. It's like a great balance between round and tight. The middle position is is incredible. Then to the SV20. The neck pup sounds great. I still need to dial in the amp a bit to the neck pickup, but it's already so much better than the '61. Bridge sounds amazing and at the aforementioned amp setting it's that perfect crunch. If i want more the Beano side of my Sunlion sounds fantastic. And that middle position is incredible. These are the quintessential PAF's. I set the bridge at 3/64 and the neck at 4/64 and I haven't even played with the heights yet. And Sweetwater of course is amazing. I got a call from Ben after I ordered the pups. I cannot think of any company that actually call a customer after an online order with the exception of Jim, the owner of Scumback Speakers. But that's maybe a 3 person company. Ben actually reached out to me the very first time I ordered from Sweetwater 3 or 4 years ago. It was about an order for 1 pack of strings! That's customer service!
Seymour Duncan Seth Lover Humbuckers
I recently ordered, received and installed these in my 2011 Gibson Les Paul. The installation was easy, I used the Traditional wiring of the pots and and caps.Initially I was little surprised by the brightness of these pick ups, but soldering in 0.047mF capacitors tamed down the brightness, also raising up the neck pick up top side (Low E string) produced more even output. The sound… read more of these pick ups is clear, concise - I love them. Certainly much clearer than the original Gibsons. Would recommend any time.Thank youMila
Great PAF tones!
I have used these in a Gibson SG Standard and 50's Standard Les Paul. Easily in my top 3 favorite p/ups of any make.
