Ramblin' Man!
I recently replaced the stock Gibson 61 Burstbuckers in my Les Paul Classic. I can see what Gibson was going for with those, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. I was looking for something more "Classic"... with less power, less darkness, and more chime and harmonics. If you play dark and heavy music, the 61s are likely to be perfect. But I'm more after a Duane Allman LP sound.… read more After a bit of research I decided on the Seymour Duncan 59 Models (neck and bridge). I got exactly what I was hoping to get... increased harmonics, less darkness, less upper-mid spike, lovely chimey sound... and broader response with the volume knob. The nickel covers look great and give the Les Paul Classic a "classic" look. The pickups were a breeze to install even though Gibson uses quick-connects in the "Classic", and the Duncans don't include them. Quick-connect-to-Seymour-Duncan adapters can be found online to make installing the Duncans super easy... and thus preserving the quick-connects on the Gibson pickups, and their value. I installed both pickups in about 10 minutes with the guitar on my lap. Easiest time I've ever had with a pickup install. The axe that I loved the feel of now has the sound I wanted. Thanks Seymour and Sweetwater!
Great pick up
I put this in the neck of my Fender Telecaster Special to replace the original Fender Special humbucker. Much brighter mids and trebles than the Fender pick up. Great upgrade to a great guitar. 1993 Fender Telecaster Special.
The Best Neck Position Humbucker EVER!
Always preferred single coil neck pickups. Put this in my '01 PRS US Singlecut (SC250) and wow- absolutely amazing. Roll the volume down, very very transparent and almost "Strat-like" at times. Roll the volume on, very warm yet articulate. Extremely happy with this, and of course the excellent customer service from Sweetwater! Fantastic PAF Style Tones
If you want that traditional Gibson tone, this is a great option.
Excellent neck pickup
I installed this pu on a PRS SE Tremonti. I was looking for a pickup with a bit more inherent character. I mostly play low to medium gain parts and my previous pickup was very good, but I feel it was designed to manage higher gain lead sounds. The 59n handles high gain as a champ, yet in addition, when going to cleanish or mid-gain parts, it has an inherent attitude or edge. Sweetwater can special order the Hybrid for you.
