Great sounding pickup
I bought both bridge and neck Seth Lover 4 coductor pickups and they sound great.
PRS S2 Custom 22
I've had a PRS S2 Custom 22 for about 3 years. I've always loved the way it looks, plays, and feels, but I've never loved the way it sounds. I found myself not picking it up very much and picking up my Strat much more often. It finally occurred to me that the Korean-made pickups are likely not up to the quality of the remainder of the guitar. After a little research, I chose… read more the Seymour Duncan Seth Lover pickups to replace the stock pickups. I ordered both the neck and bridge pickups in the 4-conductor configuration since my S2 has a coil split tone knob. (In order to get the 4-conductor version of these pickup, I believe you must order them separately instead of the set.) I got them both quickly from Sweetwater (Chris Nunley is awesome as my sales engineer!!) despite the bridge pickup not being in stock. One caveat: These Seth Lover pickups have long legs on the pickup covers so I had to use a drill and Dremel tool to create room in the bridge pickup cutout for the extra long screws that are included. No modification is necessary for the neck pickup. If I had known this before ordering, I would have chosen one of the Seymour Duncan models that comes with the shorter pickup legs (e.g. Pearly Gates). These Seth Lover model pickups are more traditional/historic and are likely expected to be used in Les Pauls and archtop guitars that have plenty of room in the pickup cutouts. All that said, it was not difficult to make the needed modification (certainly easy for a professional luthier) and I am THRILLED with the results. The pickups sound amazing. The neck pickup is an especially pleasing upgrade from the stock pickup which was a bit muddy-sounding. Now I love the way the guitar sounds, whether it be clean, overdriven, or with heavier distortion.
Seymour Duncan does it again!
I'd had a PRS SE Custom 24 for several years, but was never happy with the stock pickups. At the point of thinking it was time to sell/trade for something else, I spent some time on YouTube listening to pickup clips and also talking to tech at local mom and pop store. My ears were telling me to go with Seymour Duncan's again, and that was also what I was hearing from guitar tech.… read more He said he put Seymour Duncan's in SE's more than any other brand. The guitar had ability to split the coils (pop up tone control) and after sales person with Sweetwater clarified that I needed the 4 conductor pickup(s) for the job (thanks...Dylan Driscoll) I ordered a neck and bridge (separately as the 4 conductors aren't listed as a "set") and had them at my door a couple days later. After local tech did the install, I picked the guitar up today. HOLY COW!!! Completely different guitar with great low output/PAF type sound from neck, neck/bridge, and bridge positions. I'd NEVER had a humbucker guitar with good bridge alone sound before this. Gorgeous souding humbuckers.
Epi 335 Pro upgrade
I upgraded my Epiphone ES 335 Pro with this pickup. Huge improvement to my ears. I play blues through a Fender tube amp clean channel. I plan to go ahead and swap out the bridge pickup next.
Best pickup money can buy!
if you want smooth humbucker overdrive and warm tone this is the pickup for you! I've always been a fan of Seymour Duncan, and this is one of the reasons why. I put this in my G&L Asat Classic, Blues Boy and the Lil' 59 in the bridge. Wow, what a great sounding Tele! I can still get a fairly good twang from the bridge pick up, but it really isn't my playing style nor what I set… read more this guitar up for. Anyway, the Seth Lover Humbucker is awesome and I would highly recommend it of any guitar!
