Great pickup!
I got this pickup to make my client's Epiphone Les Paul Custom a 3 pickup Les Paul Custom. The guitar already had a set of Pearly Gates in it so I went with another one for the new middle pickup. It turned out great and my client was pleased so my job is done here.
Sounds Incredible!!!
I finally got to hear these in my custom built ES-175 tonight and was blown away! I can't recommend these pickups enough!!
World's Greatest Pickups
Incredibly responsive, versatile tone. Everything I'd hoped for in improving my guitar's voice.
Awesome guitar upgrade
I have a Hohner "Law Suit" Les Paul copy from the late 70s. The guitar was awesome in every way except that the PAF pickups were too blended, muddy sounding. They did not have the note definition of my other guitars. I upgraded to a pair of Pearly Gates. The difference is like night and day. It always looked and played like a $5,000 guitar. Now it also sounds like one. Great… read more return on investment for a purchase of a little north of 200 bucks (for a bridge-neck pair). I held off wiring up the coil split until I find a decent, 2 volume / 2 tone pot, wiring diagram. They are not easy to find for some reason. It sounds so good now, I am not sure I want to mess with it.
Pearly Gastes=Heavenly Sound!
Wife bought me a frost gold Squier J5 Tele for my 50th birthday (50=gold). Dropped a set of gold SD Pearly Gates in it. It was nice before, but now....just wow....love the neck PU. Crystal clear and sweet and the bridge has tons of attitude. The SD Pearly Gates turned a really nice guitar into one best I own. Don't let the Squier name fool you. Review the J5 your self. Then order… read more one from Sweetwater along with some SD Pearly Gates. You will have to shave a couple thou off the neck cut out on the pick guard for the covers to fit. No big deal though.Sweetwater - shipped my order the very day I placed the order and I received it 2 days later. Can't beat it! SWEET!,,,,,WATER!
