Replaced the neck pick up on my 2016 Squir CV Tele. Is not a super hot pickup but has it's fair amount of growl. It definitely needs 500k pots. God bless!

Nice upgrade

I replaced the stock neck pickup in my Epiphone Les Paul with this. The original was a bit dull and lifeless. The output of the pearly gates is a bit hotter, and it has a slightly more mid-forward sound, plus more top end sizzle from around 4kHz and up. These pickups also seem to have improved dynamics. Depending on the amp and the type of material the improvement is anywhere read more from "a little better" to "significantly better". Overall, I feel this was a pretty meaningful upgrade at a pretty reasonable price point.

Pearly Gates Neck

Installed pickup in neck position of my American tele, wired as a traditional non split 'bucker. (It should be noted that the mounting legs are short on the Pearly Gates so you can mount it into a body that doesn't have deep routes). It sounds as good as it looks. To my ears the description fits, sweet but a little rude. Definitely would recommend for someone going for that read more PAF sound, has a real singing quality to it.

A great neck pickup

I installed the Pearly Gates in the neck position of my PRS McCarty and am completely happy with it. It's clear (by humbucker standards), but with enough edge to keep things sufficiently rowdy. When I use the p/u (in my normal medium-gain context) I hear the wood of my guitar like never before. And that's a good thing! The SD jazz neck is a nice p/u and the Seth Lover neck is, read more to me, even better, but the Pearly Gates neck is better still and combines what I like about those other Duncan pickups into one classic-tone package. My only minor complaint (the reason I didn't give it five stars): the split sound is, well...meh. But then again, I've never heard a split humbucker that really sounded satisfying and comparable to a real single coil.
