Guitar body mods required
I installed this in a '99 American Standard. The screws holding the middle and neck pickups are too long. I had to drill some 1/4" depth holes in the guitar body to make room for the screws. The middle and neck pickups are much thicker than the original pickups. Initially they jammed up against the inside of the body. But once I set the string to pickup clearance to 4/64" - 5/64"… read more (per guitar manual), they were no longer touching the body on the backside. So if you're installing this, don't panic until you set the correct pickup height. Only after I got everything back together and stings back on did I notice that the volume knob wasn't working for humbucker pickup. This was the fault of Fender for leaving out a ground connection to one of the double stacked volume pots. So had to take everything apart again and add a wire.
