Great pickups
I seldom write reviews but I should. Not because I am so knowledgeable but because I tend to rely on them when I buy something new. I've been playing in bands for 40 years now and started building my own guitars a couple of years ago. I love these pickups. They may not make you sound exactly like a strat or a tele or a les paul but they will get you as close to all of those with… read more real quality tone as anything I have played. They have great flexibility and tonal quality. Can't say enough good about them. Just try them...........
Bridge PRails is gonna make your versatility soar!
I got my PRails and Triple shot together, and installed them in my PRS SE Navarro. I originally installed them as the manual shows, with the rail further from the bridge, and the TS with the switches on the top(under my hand). I took the guitar to rehearsal and was a little underwhelmed by what I was feeling and hearing. The Rail coil sounded the best, with the parallel version… read more a close second. I assumed the P90 and series versions would be my faves. There was too much low end in the series setting and the P90 was a little thin. I also wasn"t thrilled about feeling the switches under my palm when palm muting and deadening strings. So after rehearsal, I went home and did a little more research on how people were installing the PRails. I decided to turn the whole thing over. I just loosened all the strings and pulled the ring and pickup in one piece and turned it 180 degrees and screwed it back down. Now you"re talking. Yes the rail coil is less loud, but its a single coil, and for me, it"s supposed to do that. Now that the rail was closer to the bridge, the pickup is less boomy in series mode. And the P90 got a little more girth to my ears. Win, win WIN! Also, I find it more intuitive to switch the pickup coil taps under the strings then above, since that"s where my tone and volume knobs are anyway. So for me, installing this PRails "upside down" or in reverse, was the best thing for my use. Results may vary I would assume dependent on each guitar, but I recommend installing it this way first. Great pickup, and is better in this guitar for me at this time then the JB and the Black winter that were in the guitar the last two pickups that I tried.
P rail humbucker
Sounds great and very versatile
Taming a Telecaster
I put a P-Rail with triple play in the bridge of my Fender Modern Player telecaster, Gives you rails for very tele like sound, P90 for more growl and Humbucker in series or parallel for Rock, Blues, even some metal. I tried a Dimarzio Tonezone and found it too muddy. I tried a Seymour Duncan JB which was still to bright. The P-rail has balanced bass Treble and mids.
Seymour Duncan P-Rails and Sweetwater
I love the versatility of these pickups and the tonal possibilities, especially when paired with the SD triple shot pup rings. Very distinct differences in the voicing. I have installed them on several guitars with always gratifying results. And who better to purchase them from than Sweetwater! Always great service!
