Inconvenient Packaging

The strings themselves are awesome. The company packaged all six guitar strings wound together in one plastic sleeve. This is fine when you go to replace all six strings at the same time, but when gigging and only one string breaks, you are required to remove all of the strings from the package, unwind them, then figure out which string is the one you need for the replacement. read more This adds significant time to the task when the rest of the band and audience might be waiting. Hopefully, you have a second guitar with you at the gig. Even if you have time to do the change out, like during a break, there are still five other strings, that you didn't use, laying around loose. It's impractical to put them back in the packaging sleeve, so they lay around in some gear bag, with a chance of kinking, until you can store them someplace. If your a gigging guitarist, I don't recommending bringing these with to a gig. Find a set you like where the strings are individually packaged, easily identified and accessible, and conveniently stored.

If they come on your guitar they’re fine

As the title says if they come on your guitar at their phone. But I wouldn't swap out for anything else. I think I'll stick to either Ernie Ball or elixir.

Finally 9.5's!

Finally, 9.5's for my PRS CE24! I cannot be happier with my new strings. My PRS bolt on CE24 is amazing in every musical category except for blues because of the tension on the strings which are PRS 10-46 from the factory. The amps I play are a Blues JR III Tweed, a Blues Deluxe III Tweed, and a Mesa Boogie Express 550 Plus with a custom finish. My PRS plays above its grade and read more can share the stage with any other guitar custom or not. However, to play slow blues I had to use a pedal because the tension on the strings required too much effort for sleight of hand slippery blues licks. I have had my factory strings on my guitar for over a year and the quality has been exceptional and I have been reluctant to change them. I changed my strings last night to PRS 9.5-44 and what a difference! My guitar is open now. First impressions are a buttery feel and sound, clarity and much more detail, room on the neck between strings, easy bends, even tone from string to string, balanced output across the neck, now my single coil settings sound airy and breathless, my tone and volume pots have more effect now, my tone is less pokey and dominant in quiet settings and for rhythm passages. My overall sound now allows my 85/15 pickups to shine. I did have to increase the volume on my amp which placed the amp in its sweet spot. The detail is amazing, and the overdrive sounds are easy to find. My guitar sounds complete and natural now. I still have enough string to hold on to and switching from single to humbucker is like adding a boost pedal. The same space my guitar occupied in the mix can be achieved by increasing the volume on your amp by 1.2 digits. The power of the strings is undeniable but now its tamed by you rather than the loudness of the band. Where the power of my guitar blended only when the band was playing, I can now bring the blend to the room and perform by myself without overwhelming the crowd. I am so happy to have these strings. Also, another observation is when changing the strings, I changed them one at a time and roughly tuned them to pitch. When all the strings were changed, I stretched them before the final tuning but was surprised find they were all in the same tuning I left them. The did not need stretching. I played the strings for quite some time and still no tuning is needed. Purchase these strings PRS and Les Paul players when you need a more Stratty feel at your hands but powerful tones and output at the amp. Normal 9"s are often too small for big power. My sales Engineer Chris Defaut was wonderful and knowledgeable. This was my first purchase from Sweetwater. However, Chris has always called to check on my and let me know what offers are available to me from the conversations we had. This is my first review, so I apologize for the wordiness. Finally 9.5"s!
