Bought a couple years ago. Needed something decent just to use in recordings so I figured I'd give this a go. The setup was really bad. After I got the neck adjusted and what not It played much better. BUT this guitar has probably the worst fret job on any instrument I have ever played. I have to be careful when playing it because the fret ends literally slice my fingers to pieces read more when playing it. I've never see anything like it. I expect better from someone like Spector.

Great Bass!!

This is a great Bass for the money. For a passive bass this thing is plenty loud. The P pickup is awesome. When I changed strings the the tuning peg hex screws were loose but it's an easy fix. For an overseas bass it's really well made.

Comfort is just as important as sound

I am a guitar player. Our bass player had an unfortunate accident. I was asked to cover his parts for the next 2 months. My Fender Jazz bass is fine for at home stuff. Man cave groove was fine. However live performance is a different animal. I need to be comfortable and flawless. I have learn that bass players have less wiggle room than guitar player. I purchased this Spector because read more I love the feel of the neck. I really don't have to think about note placement. It allow me then playing confidence required to be consistent in a live set. It sounds great to me. I use a pre amp pedal through a Mark Bass amp. The bass holds its tune. The bridge pick up is my favorite. I am no tone expert when it comes to bass. This sounds great for the price point. It's a 10 in playability. I need to be tight and flawless playing live. The comfort allows me to be a confident stand in. A quick shout out to Josh Lively who assisted with the sale and recommended pick up upgrade. Thanks Sweetwater,

Pleasantly Surprised

I bought this to be an inexpensive household & rehearsal bass, and to try the Spector design as I've always heard they are really comfortable. I must say I am pleasantly surprised by this bass. I will maintain that I prefer my much higher end basses over this one, but they are anywhere from six to ten times the price as well. I've always heard nato is a budget tone wood and really read more isn't very lively, but I find this bass well voiced and absolutely great sounding. It also is really well made, especially for the price point. It's really a joy to play and a very nice instrument. I wouldn't hesitate to take the stage with it. Actually, since I won't worry about it much, I actually specifically plan to do so and reserve my finer instruments for where I can play them with more care. I'm a picky guy but for the price especially, even if I paid twice as much for this bass, I'd still be happy with the playability and sound. Great deal of a bass. I might pick up the five string version too.

My new favorite bass

I've had Spectors before, namely a pair of Korean-made neck-thru models from the early 2000's. My main issue with them was the weight (my 4-string tipped the scales at 11.5 pounds) making it hard to keep them on my shoulder for a whole rehearsal, or performance. I found the neck was INSANELY fast, actually more comfortable than my NS20004, and along with the much lighter weight, read more it makes the bass itself a delight to sling around a room or a stage all evening without hardly noticing it's there. It's very well-balanced also, no neck dive. I couldn't say enough about the sound, though. I love that I'm getting this tone without active electronics, I'm really fond of how simple this instrument is to use, I don't have any trouble being heard in a band situation and in several recordings I've been simply delighted by how crisp and punchy it sounds. I usually roll off the bridge pickup a bit (as I do with a Jazz bass\) to bring the lows into prominence from the neck pickup. The highs cut through either live or in a mix, easily articulating each note but never irritating or harsh. The Spector growl is quite apparent. I also do not get tired of looking at it, it's beautifully made. At this price, this is a perfect bass for a beginner too, but as a player with 37 years of experience, I'm saying it's a keeper. I'd take this bass to any gig.

It truly is a performer

Spector has it figured out. This is an excellent bass for the price. I honestly was expecting a lot less. Boy was I surprised. This bass stands alone. Only more expensive basses will compare. Don't take my word for it, get one for yourself and you be the judge.
