Hawt Dang
I found an old guitar of mine that I wanted to practice fixing/modding with, and basically did not like the humbucker in it at all. Right before getting a plain ol JB…I decided "I love p90s let's try that" and found this. It is honestly perfect I think with an hss guitar. The tonal balance switching is amazing and this will certainly be my go to configuration on a couple higher… read more end guitars as well. This thing cleans great, and is just a perfect rock n roll pickup. (As to be expected, Noise is pretty bad with high gain for those less familiar with p90s…you will need a noise gate if you plan on doing metal or something super high gain)
Well worth it!
Replaced stock pickups in a PRS Zach Meyer SE with a set of these Phat Cats and love em. It's a whole new guitar and one of the most versatile I have now.
P90 sweetness !
The Seymour Duncan SPH90-1b Phat Cat Bridge P-90 Soapbar Single Coil Pickup was a perfect fit for my Les Paul Jr. upgrade. If you like the P90 sound, you are going to love this pick-up. From blues to rock, funk to Jazz, with a roll off of some volume it covers the complete spectrum of sound. They don't call it Phat Cat for nothing, volume up and it rocks :)
Great sound
Pickup sounds great and easy to install. I usually don't play a lot of clean chords on the bridge position but now I do. Not as harsh sounding as the factory Epiphone pickup the guitar had. Sounds even better with a bit of overdrive.
Phat Indeed!
I just popped this into a PRS SE Santana Vintage Cherry double-cut...simply sublime. It's thick and it cuts...a bell-like chainsaw. Don't pass this up!
