Seymour duncan phat cat p-90
Replaced a non-working humbucker in the neck position with this SD Phat Cat P-90. Fit was perfect and sounds great. This pickup in the neck was a huge improvement. As always Ben Porter and the Sweatwater staff got it to me in great time an unharmed along with the candy.
So gooooooood
Ok I was tired of the neck pickup on my 20 year old Gibson LP Studio. I really wanted to buy a BFG from Gibson about a decade ago but it never happened so I decided to convert my Studio in to a better BFG; especially since it had a real good finish and BFG's didn't. My LP was Wine Red and had Gold hardware. My Sweetwater Rep (Bob) special ordered a Gold plated Phat P90. I finally… read more installed it tonight, what a killer tone. Since my Studio is older it has a 498T pickup in the bridge. The P90 mixes so well with that humbucker, and has added a new tone to the guitar. It has a new different tone; more blues like with the P90. The install is straight forward, and well worth the end result. If you are looking for a different tone for your guitar, I strongly suggest replacing your humbucker with this P90. Fits perfectly and get tone. Well worth the cost.....
???
Had the Phat Cat installed in the neck position on my blue Zach Myers along with a Pearly Gates humbucker at the bridge.Got it home, plugged in, noticed it was too loud, backed it away from the strings a good pinch and BOOM, that blue, crying tone came to life. You know, the David Gilmour cry we all want from The Wall solo? Only it's even fatter."Winning." -Charlie S.

My Phat Cat P90 is sweet and juicy, just the replacement I needed for my early 70s Electra Les Paul. During my order I got a call from Nate who told me PayPal wasn't working and he repaired my order quickly and it was shipped that day! Sweetwater is the place to buy.
Respect The Magnets!
Replaced the stock neck humbucker in my ESP Custom Shop Ron Wood Tele with the Phat Cat. It's paired with a Little 59 bridge pup thru an Emerson pre-wired 250k harness (w treble-bleed) and I could not be happier with the tones I'm getting. Tele spank? Check. Strat quack? SG growl? Gretsch howl? Jazzmaster-esque bounce and sparkle? Check. And once you start combining your other pickup(s)… read more it only gets better from there. No lack of brightness issues with the 250k pots either, in case you were wondering. That has way more do do with the fact that it's a naturally bright guitar anyway. It's a sensitive pickup with strong magnets that reacts phenomenally to your volume/tone knobs and attack. Careful setting the height on this one. My ceramic Little 59 is 11.4k but it's no match for the alnico 2's sheer power. My Cat's sitting at about 8/64" and it matches the bucker's output (set to approx 5/64") just about perfect. Any closer and the Cat's presence and power take over and starts to sound not so great imo. So, if you're after a highly versatile single coil tone with a slightly rude edge in a humbucker routed guitar, I'd strongly urge you to take a close look at the Phat Cat. Just remember to respect the magnets! The sound is far larger than its size and output rating suggest. enjoy ; )
