I initially bought this amplifier to have access to the drum models and backing tracks, but quickly realized it is more useful than just for home noodling. The amp has enough built in effects and models that you can find pretty much any sound you might need. The pre-recorded tracks are just icing on a very filling cake. I bought this along with the 4 switch foot pedal, which you… read more really do need to be able to unlock most of the benefits of this piece of equipment. I wish the footswitch was included as part of the amp, because it really is necessary. My one concern, and a gentle warning to anyone who buys this box of joy, is that you need to read the directions thoroughly, and then go to Line 6's website and download the full instruction manuals, other wise you will give yourself a headache attempting to intuit how to program custom channels and sounds. i also recommend watching the many very helpful you tube videos available. All in all this is a wonderful practice amplifier.

Had the spider jam for 11 years and it's still perfect. This amp is a great tool for song writing and getting ideas organized. The presets are really cool and very accurate. The drum loops it has are diverse and you can change the tempo and pitch also. Probably my favorite feature. I will never buy another piece of gear from anywhere other than Sweetwater! This place has my heart for sure and not to mention this amp kicks ***. From the quality to all of the added features, this thing really does it all.

I love this amp and highly recommend it! It's not difficult to figure out, like some have said. I referred to my owner's manual three or four times. I don't need it now. It is a great practice amp and a recorder - I record my rhythm guitar track and them overdub my solos. In an essence, it is a 2-track recorder. You can plug in 2-input sources at a time (e.g. bass, microphone,… read more guitar, midi, etc). This is a no brainer to purchase, you will not be sorry.
