Very Impressive
Really adds polish and uniformity to your tone. I use it as an always-on type with the compression set at about 9 or 10 o'clock. At that setting, my tone is basically intact with almost no coloration or woofiness. Turned up, it can do funk and country things really well. And at every setting, it is very very quiet. One drawback is that there is very little sustain on tap. It's not… read more a dealbreaker for me. And even with that noted, I'd still give it five stars. It's an impressive compressor.
Simple/Effective
Low noise pedal with good compression. Volume is sensitive and you could use this as a boost or buffer. Took a while to find my sweet spot but but once I did I was very happy. This is a very tiny pedal which I didn't realize when I ordered so be aware
Great pedal compressor
So after a year or so being frustrated with my Dyna Comp, I decided to pull the trigger on this little guy. I really wasn't expecting much but was more than a little surprised at how good this thing actually is. Does it have output? Yes. Unity is right around 12 o clock. With a low com pi session setting and the output above noon, you get a nice power tube "bloom" to your notes… read more without killing your dynamics. Think of it as an accentuate to your tubes. If you like that bloom to your notes, a low setting just sort of gives you a little more. Does it get along with humbuckers AND single coils? Yes. Thankfully. My big complaint about my Dyna Comp was that it sounded great with my humbuckers split, or with true single coils, but was so compressed even at the lowest settings that my humbuckers would be quieter than my split positions. Annoying when my main axe is a two humbucker strat. NOT the case with the squeegee. Within minutes I was able to find the sweet spot where positions two and four (humbuckers split) are as loud as 1, 3, and 5 (both coils) and 1,3, and 5 aren't squashed to death. In other words my Pearly Gates Plus and '59 still sounds like itself. Does it amplify noise. Find me a com poo ressor that doesn't. You can do one of two things, turn down your distortion gain a touch, or buy a noise reduction unit. Bottom line is that this pedal will get WAY above unity, work with multiple types of pickups, doesn't kill your high and low end, can be subtle or clicky, and does it at a pretty good price point.
