Killer tone
I purchased this pick up to replace the stock pick up in a Squier affinity telecaster. This was my first pick up install which proved to be pretty easy. The tone of this pick up is incredible giving you a wide range of possibilities. My only complaint is that I had to file out a small amount of material on the bridge plate so this pick up would fit through it. Not sure if that would've… read more been the case on a fender telecaster but with the squire it is definitely an issue.
So much better than I expected
I have an inexpensive squier tele that plays great but didn't sound very good. I have a much nicer tele so I thought I would try this SD humbucker in the cheap one to see if it would help. Oh my gosh the change was incredible. It made my Kemper sound like a whole new amp. I'll be throwing some SD's in a few other guitars immediately!
Lil 59 Perfect !!
I am a Tele player since 1997 The Lil 59 gives a tele the Bark and punch an SG or Les Paul yet still manages to keep a good bit of that tele twang as well .And as Always . . Sweetwater is my go to for most, if not all, my gear needs !
100% met my expectations.......
First, always great to do business with Sweetwater. Fair price, good inventory, and quick shipping and delivery. The SD Little '59 did not disappoint. I have a Nashville style Nash tele with the typical 3 pickup configuration that makes up the Nashville style. Love this configuration as it is convenient to get that Strat quack, while in a tele build. I've had a DiMarzio Area Hot… read more DP421 bridge pickup for years. I was just never that happy with it. Either for a tele sound or the PAF sound it was supposed to deliver. I decided to give the SD Little '59 a try as a replacement, and it is everything I wished that the DiMarzio was. I realize tone is subjective and what each of us is looking for is different as well. The DiMarzio may have been perfect for someone else, but I was looking for a slightly more PAF humbucker tone and that is what this ST59 is delivering in my Nash. It distorts beautifully and is very easy to coax into that ZZ Top harmonics, if that is what you want it to do. I has a very pleasant clean tone. Tele enough for me, but likely not for purists. It delivers long sustain in the upper registers, and responds very well to small adjustments to amp, affects, or guitar controls. In trying to think of some aspect that is not quite there or slightly disappointing, but I can't come up with anything. For my needs and musical style, and in this tele and amp, the pickup is just a terrific bridge pickup, particularly if you like that Robbin Ford, bluesy/jazzy overdrive and harmonics. As an HB, it is not going to deliver the standard single coil bridge tele brightness. But it is as close as you can get out of an HB alternative. The real benefits to this pickup is for those that want that extra punch and drive from a PAF style HB at the bridge position of your tele.
Love this pup.
Great gain and tone. Not as much snap as a standard Tele pup.
