Bold but not versatile enough

First of all, with the right overdrive, let me say this thing sounds IMMACULATE. I mean like full, warm, rich yadda yadda, sustain for days. But the clean sound is just too hard to EQ. It generally errs on the side of harsh/icepick with the highs. When rolled off, it loses a lot of harmonics. It's very bright, but its not delicate enough to all that we know tele bridge magic can… read more do. Was hoping to use it in an esquire but just not versatile enough, so I'll be letting this go. However, if you can find a Starwood neck pickup... RUN, don't walk, to the buy button.

I dropped this in to replace the pickup that came in my American Special Tele. The original pickup sounded pretty good. However it would cut out from time-to-time. Besides ... I also wanted to try something else. I read some reviews on this and figured "what the hell". In any case - it is still a little early, but the tone is great. I recently swapped out the stock pickups in my Fender American Performer with a set of TV Jones Starwood pickups. Wow! What an upgrade! You get a P90 growl without losing the soul of the Telecaster. That signature twang I still there! If you're looking for a bit more punch from your Tele you should definitely give these pickups a try. They sound great!

Nice clean, but slightly driven bridge tone. The neck is big and driven without any muddiness. Awesome fat Tele tone. It sounds similar to my Jazzmaster with humbuckers, but these pickups are slightly less driven and have more clarity.

I really love the sounds I get from this pickup. I’m not sure what TV Jones does that is different but it works. Traditional Tele twang but so much more. Give it a try!
