Welcome to 8k sound
I put these in a $229 Squier Tele. OMG. Mind blown. Tone is perfect with NO NOISE. Very responsive. Record ready.
I've Created a MONSTER!!!
I purchased a Squier Standard Tele in 2017. I loved the way it played, but the sound just wasn't there. I eventually traded it for an Epi LP. Great looking guitar - but it played horrible. So, I traded it and got the Tele back (yeah - I know..). I played with pickup height, different strings, new pots, etc. I finally decided on the EMG T System kit for it. Sweetwater had it to me… read more in 2 days!!!! Installation was easy - but I did have to do some minor routing in the cavity of the Control Plate in order to get the 9 Volt Battery to fit. If you purchase this kit be prepared to do some surgery to your Tele since the depth of the cavity varies on the model. The solderless connection was very simple and easy. After installation and a pickup height adjustment, I plugged into a Boss Katana Mini (it was right there so ... yeah). I was SHOCKED!!!!! My $1500 Strat will hum like a banshee through this little amp, but the EMG's in the Tele were dead quiet. I finally had TONE!!! Pure Tele tone. The neck pickup was lush and clean - perfect! The bridge pickup WAILS!!! After 2 solid hours with the Tele / Katana Mini combination, I decided to plug into my Fender Hot Rod Deville 4 x 10 60 Watter. OHMERGERD!!!!! Clean, twang, whatever you want out of these - you'll get it!! The tone pot on this kit actually WORKS!!! With the tone pot set at 50% and full volume on the bridge, a little overdrive, some reverb... pure bliss!!! This is now my #1 player - and trust me it gets used a LOT! Battery life is good as long as you do not forget to pull your cable after you play. My Sweetwater Rep asked me how the EMG's were working out. I told him to keep these things in stock because a lot of my friends would be ordering them - and they have!!! So get off of the fence and pull the trigger on these. You will not be disappointed - especially if you purchase from Sweetwater! Outstanding service and great follow up after the purchase.
Emg tele pickup set
Absolutely awesome! Installs and performs better than advertised. Easy install, no soldering. Very minor passage hole enlargement for prre-wired wiring harness. Active battery fit with no modification. The sound is fantastic! Got the original duck quack fender tone they are known for. It brought my squire tele alive. Sounds and plays as good as my fender stat deluxe. I now prefer… read more it overl my $1800 Gibson SG standard. Double thumbs up. Support, package tracking from sweetwater were great. Not 1 single drawback!!!!!
Amazing!
I love my Squier Telecaster Affinity but the stock pickups were rather noisy and muddy sounding. When looking for pickups I was immediately drawn to this pickup set. I'm horrible with electronics and soldering irons and so the fact that this kit is pre-wired was a plus for me. Installation still looked a little bit tedious but it was anything but. Other than having to drill a couple… read more of holes wider to fit wires through and sanding down the pickup hole on the bridge plate so the bridge pickup can fit better, it was a breeze. I was blown away on how clear and noiseless these pickups are. They sound great playing clean and there's a nice clear crunch while using overdrive/distortion. Definitely worth the price and I would buy this set again.
