EF360GF wow Sweet like Sweetwater

I was reviewing guitars extensively that would sound great with my voice as I sing. What I needed was a dreadnought guitar in the midrange for price that would sound great plugged and unplugged. I wittled the list to two final contenders: Martin D-16 or the Takamine EF360GF (Glen Frey) model. Gage Massey was great in discussing with me which guitar fits the bill. I decided on the read more Tak and when it came, boy was I impressed. The statement of "it sings the very first time you strum it" is a huge understatement. Thank you Gage and thank you Sweetwater for the great service. Can't wait to do business with you again in the future.

I purchased this guitar 10 months ago and wanted to spend some time with it before writing a review. I probably shouldn't have waited to pass the word on how great Sweetwater was, but first off Sweetwater customer service is the benchmark! This guitar purchase was my first from Sweetwater and everything from start to finish was absolute first class. I've purchased strings and read more other items since the guitar purchase and Sweetwater treats you the same way whether you buy guitar strings or an expensive item. Thanks for all your help Matt.! Now to the guitar. Honestly I've only been playing for a year now and I bought this guitar early on with very little playing experience. I am an Eagles fan and always like that guitar sound so I pretty much bought this thing blind not really knowing what to expect. I knew that I wanted to learn on a nice acoustical guitar that I could grow into. I've been working diligently and I appreciate this guitar more and more every day. The nut width was a little tight for me for I was used to a nylon string guitar and I have thick fingers. The guitar came with D'addario EXP-17 mediums not the lighter strings like the description said, but I'm pretty sure that they are meant for this guitar. The sound just booms from this guitar when strumming rhythm chords for back up! Seems to be very strong mid range to top, not a real strong bass. but that's what I really love about it. It definitely stands out over other guitars. I don't use the pick ups for I never plug it in so I only use it as an unplugged acoustical. Sorry. So there you have it, I'm a novice player but dedicated to lessons and learning. Not a lot of experience with other guitars, but I'm a really big fan of all music and I know the guitar tone that's pleasing to my ear and it's Takamine. The only downside on this for me is that with the medium strings its a little hard to do bends for leads etc. Plus the lack of a cutaway makes it very difficult to reach higher frets. (might be my inexperience but I have short fingers too) But I don't want to do anything that would change the sound of this guitar. Would definitely recommend Sweetwater Sound and I would definitely purchase another Takamine. I will probably purchase another Talkamine, one with cutaway.

An outstanding guitar

I have had this guitar for about three years and remain very impressed with it.. Its certainly a little hard to find to play.. but its more than worth its money. Premier guitar did a review some while ago and its spot on the money in its conclusions. I sadly confess to being a tone snob.. an affliction that has cost some money over the years, but this guitar continues to impress. read more It has beautiful even well balanced tone without any flaws or irritants.. a solid recipe for a long term keeper.. It plays particularly well with the TC VoiceLive3 acoustic amp presets and i am very impressed with its amp'd tone thru this unit..... If you go straight into a mixer, the preamp is pretty decent, but you could get a better tone with the cooltube preamp, or the Fishman Aura pedal..
