Great fingerstyle guitar

Tom

I agree with the first two reviewers. I used to play classical so I am used to a wider neck. Now I play finger style on steel string pretty much exclusively and this guitar is just about perfect. Very wide at the nut, fat (deep) neck, but not too wide at the saddle. I make fewer mistakes on this guitar and it feels very comfortable for my long fingers. The sound is very balanced read more - equal on bass, mids, and treble. Highly recommend for finger style players.

Excellent Fingerstyle Guitar

This guitar is very impressive. I purchased one of these earlier this year and it has a great tone, excellent intonation, is easy to play, and looks beautiful. The wider neck is perfect for my big hands. I use this guitar for fingerstyle playing but it can be used for multiple styles of play. I highly recommend this one.

A unique guitar for the right player.

I had been looking at various wide neck (nut width) acoustic guitars for awhile. I'm comfortable playing wider nylon string classical guitars and currently own a Masterbilt and Seagull both with 1 3/4" nuts. I also have a couple of handmade electric guitars with Warmoth Superwide nuts at 1 7/8". Besides the wider neck, I also like the lightly wider spacing at the bridge. What read more I like about these wider neck instruments is the ability to make complex chords that ring out clearly. The EF740FS also has a very comfortable 12 fret design so your right hand is closer in the first position and the body is small and lightweight - but it is deep, so you get a lot of resonance and in particular - sustain. I immediately lowered the saddles which I almost always have to do on any new insrument and I may tweak the trust rod a bit. Go to a luthier if you are not comfortable for the absolute best setup. I am really digging this guitar. I replaced the overly light strings that it came on it with Elixir Polyweb because I like zero squeak... but I will probably go to the Nanoweb for a brighter voice. It's true that you loose sparkle with the Elixirs but you lose sparkle with other strings after a few days and the Elixirs just sound better longer. This guitar is not for everyone. The wider neck with not be comfortable for everyone... and the slot head is more cumbersome to string. But I've got the action nice and low and it chords beautifully. I mostly finger pick but do a bit of flatpicking when recording. I haven't recorded this baby yet but will be making some Tonedexter wavemaps shortly!
